DRSD to Great White Help Vintage Rolex

Hey guys I have this DRSD and I want to make it a great white. would i need to change other parts to make it a correct great white? or are the these 1665 models practically the same?

To swap you need:

Great white dial (Ruby or MQ depending on Budget)
Great white caseback

If you want to be anal then you’d need to re-engrave the case to a Great White serial (approx 5.1 mill onwards depending on your dial, nobody makes a big white rep dial though, so probably Mk2 Rail Dial earliest with a serial from 5.7 mill onwards)

Hands are the same

Btw your hour hand triangle looks too long in that pic.

Maybe get an ETA set from Raffles.

If going gen 1570 that is the best option - though that is a rabbit hole as you would then need gen hands and a gen period correct datewheel.

And a Viet case to take it, as the cartel case won’t.

If you get a yuki dial, do not get the ETA dial. The date window will be in the wrong spot. Get the “Rolex” dial and clip the dial feet off it. The yuki dials are more than acceptable and reasonably priced.

i decided to build one from scratch. right now im planning on getting this case combo - but can someone tell me if that crystal is standing too tall? i looked up a bunch of great whites, and they all have a crystal that sticks up, this one just seems a bit tall.


im getting an eta 2824 movement, eta hands, refinished dial for 1570 (some modding will be needed), that case ^, 93150 bracelet


can u guys give me a good source for high quality eta hands for a 1665 great white? also a good datewheel that'll fit? thank you very much

DWOs with a silver finish, open 6/9s and flat top 3s are correct.
That caseback is correct for the GWSD. You can get hands at Clark's for the SD, or use the old hands and color them to match the dial.
Puretime has a GWSD but he calls it a DRSD

I currently have a 1570 case/dial with a 2824 movement inside.

can I use any 3135 dials? my dial is 26.5mm diameter. and I'd like to try replacing my current dial with a 11660 or 16600 dial. having a hard time finding specs though, thanks
