Hi all. I just received a 116900 BP which has a 2836-2 movement inside. The rotor seems quite noisy so I opened it up to see if anything obvious was missing or broken, everything seems fine. One thing I noticed though is that the rotor plate and rest of the movement is silver, whereas on all the TD photos, it's all gold? Can anybody shed any light? Is the photo of mine definitely a 2836-2 movement? Cheers all

The 9th gate
Although my knowledge is quite limited - i'd say yes, that's a 2836-2.
TD's pictures are often outdated, unfortunately.

Can you post a pic with the rest of the movement showing? That's an unusual movement holder - is that a single set screw holding the holder to the case?

I’ll post some more pictures later on, what are you thinking? The TD assured me it’s an Asian 2836 movement. The rotor noise is killing me, it doesn’t appear to be loose.

What noise - whirring/spinning noise or knocking/clunking noise ?

Ok here are some more photos of the movement, I'm also going to try and upload a noise of the rotor.

Raddave tripdog Here's a link to the video of the rotor noise. I was only touching it very lightly and rotating it very lightly but you can hear the noise I'm talking about. It makes this noise when on the wrist, does this sound normal or like something is broken? Thanks all

Thought it was going to be a video, but it's a sound file. Sounds like you're in a Submarine and it's hard to know what the noises are without images. Sounds to me like the rotor is rocking on it's bearings, meaning it's probably knocking on the retaining screws and maybe other parts as it rotates - this would make a fair bit of noise when you move your wrist.
The solution would first to check the rotor is seated correctly - remove screw and rotor and reseat. Or if that doesn't work, replace the rotor and it's bearing housing, or you could try tightening up the bearings by putting a drop or 2 of heavier oil in the bearings.

Maybe also want to get you temperature taken, coughing may be the first symptoms of a virus.

tripdog Try the Link again, it's finished finalising and compressing now. Also the coughing was a colleague, not me. Cheers

It's rocking slightly on it's bearings and maybe knocking the movement screws, remove screw and rotor and reseat, a drop of lubrication would probably help too.

Wear a mask, better safe than sorry.

Sorry, damn colleague. Any suggestions on a forum member who could sort this for me? I read about ado123 but doesn't seem to be active anymore. I need somebody UK based ideally, and rough idea of cost? Cheers

You could just buy a new clone ETA rotor on Ebay and replace it yourself. One screw, almost certainly cheaper.

KJ2020 i did think about that but the screw looks ridiculously small, I can’t get anything near it at all. I’ve got some really small screwdrivers but they are all a million miles too big. Any links to what I’d need to do it? Would be hugely appreciated. Cheers buddy

watch from 1:20 to 1:30.

Then seat the new rotor and screw back 5:51 till 6:20 on video

Either get very small screwdrivers, or file the ones that you have (if you want to go DIY)

Stuvetjee thanks so much for the link. Any idea of what size screwdriver I’d need roughly? I’d rather get the correct size and make sure I’m doing it properly
