Haven’t had a VR one yet but my SH3135 is running like a champ after servicing. Originally, my reversing wheels were crap so I took them apart and realized that the little levers did not poke out far enough to catch the teeth of the internal wheel. I was about to buy a set of gen ones but figured I’d give it a try. Slightly bent the levers up a little and they work perfectly. The only thing I hate about them is the wheels’ paint. I just peeled them off since they’re basically latex. I’d rather just peel them off instead of little chips of them falling off and getting in to the gears.
They keep time ok. When it first got to me, it was losing about 2 seconds a day. Now it’s about 5-7sec/day so it’s not bad but it’s not perfect. For the price though, it does what I needed it to do and what I needed to. Accept a 16800 dial and hands that don’t look like they were stamped out of tin foil.
I think they’re worth it as long as you get them serviced, you should be good to go.
