Would like to know it feels to you? Or should wait for ARF/Noob?

i bought one for my brother to supplement his gen when he doesn’t want to be ding up the gen. the bezel color is really good except the gen bezel text is brighter and has a small gold lip around the bezel edge.

dial is pretty good. gold is slightly yellower compared to gen. clasp aint no arf.

all in all he said even with them side by side its amazing how far these reps have come. some days he forgets which he is wearing!

pic for reference, sorry not high def

Just want to add that the GMF two tones do not have covered SEL sides, they are bare steel. BP on the other (GMF partner) makes a 316L version for ~$100 less that does have covered (gold colored) SEL sides.

BP/GMF GMT reps are quite similar since they are partner factories. I have a few BP GMTs and like them. It's important IMO to protect the vulnerable links and clasp of any "gold" rep or the plating is going to wear off.

Plated = 5 mils thick
Wrapped = 30 mils thick (significantly higher cost)
SELs are either covered or not covered, whether plated or wrapped

BP 316L plated, SELs sides covered

I protect all my "gold" rep vulnerable links with cell phone protective screen material. I cut out the pieces by hand, although you can buy kits for this.

Otherwise, this can happen

Hi guys,

I'm looking into this model. GMF CHS SA 3285 V3

https://puretimewatch.io/gmt-master...-gold-gmf-1-1-best-edition-sa3285-chs-v3.html

Been reading a lot about the 3285 movements being based on the time bomb 3186 movement. But can't seem to find a lot about the SA 3285 and I read that VRF and ARF now makes the exact clone of the gen 3186 and 3285? So would be keen to get an understanding on how reliable is the "SA 3285"?

Don't mind paying a bit more to get a nicer rep but won't want to shell out 500-600 for a time bomb movement which ends up being a paper weight instead..... any comments about the look of the watch and movement from the more enlightened and informed members for the above link root-beer watch?

I have an RB GMF V2 with A3285.
The movement is not great, but for the moment it hasn't had any problems.
I confirm that the A3285 is based on the 3185, derived from the SA3185 to be clear.
If you want to do something right, you might consider replacing the A3285 movement with the VR3185, which has a good datewheel of its own.

Great info thanks! How long have you had your GMF RB with the A3285 movement? Is this your everyday beater?

Secondly, where I get my hands on a VR3185 movement? Any TD that sells this?

Thanks for your infor again and sorry if I'm asking some basic Qs since I am still fairly new and learning lots here..

bought about a year ago, I alternate it with other watches.
for the movement try asking your trusted TD or looking for one from your modder; make sure with him that the work can be done and that the movement can go well, to avoid unpleasant misunderstandings.
in the end, with 1.2 / 1.3 K you should get the job done even with a good Crystal Gen
