It doesn’t exist? I thought it was supposed to be this one.

Great article bro, Ive read that several times. Those bakelite inserts were always blue and red on SS watches. I just enhanced the saturation in one of the Hodinkee pics, black won't turn blue with that enhancement.

Coke inserts didn't appear until the Fat Lady 16760, in 1983.

May be a moot point, I just checked PC and I see they are now offering a Blue/Red albino. I didn't see that before. Although really there are some better bakelite inserts out there for these models with nice deep blues.

I heard these inserts are just aluminum that were lumed and then coated with plastic. That looks to be true as you can see the metal insert markers shadowing the lume on some markers. The lumers did an amazing job painting in the lines but still it's a bit of a cheap knockoff technique.

Yeah, looking at some of the pics on TS it does look quite cheap and nasty!

nothing will ever top this albino GMT build by the society...

Yep that's a beauty. I am a sucker for the NOS look though - I know its not as realistic but there are some amazing gens still alive out there so the NOS look is not entirely implausible.

This is a gen. Amazingly it sold for only like $160K last time it auctioned

This rep posted on RWG is right up my alley. I would pay good money for one like this. Maybe someday...

They have both black dial and albino models in blue/red inserts too. They just seem too light blue to me, and the coke seems like dark blue instead.

Li was picking out the best CHNR due to multiple bad batches, which is why the QC took so long. I approved them after careful consideration and studying, and asking for the amplitude to be changed from 252 to 275+ (came out to 276) and s/d to +3

Overall it looks incredible for the price. Others such as Riffraff are waiting as well. It's definitely tough to get a good one. Hoping their QC's come very soon just in time for the holidays!

Terrific!

The cyclops seems to look really good. Is there a better one in GMT rep land? It almost seems to have AR-or maybe it is just the lighting in Li's facility
Looking forward to mine - too late for my birthday but who knows may yet make it for christmas!

Thanks brother! You inspired me to get this and to pick the ICHS. You also inspire many other people to be awesome! very grateful you are here. I know we're internet strangers but you mean a lot as my senior. Much to learn from you :)

On other matters, to be frank I like the ICHS more compared to CHS because it's far more convenient than the gen. Easy date flip and easy maintenance! My 116710LN franken is CHS and it's orgasmic but the date changing can be annoying even though the required parts have been replaced with sturdy gen pieces (VR 3135 conversion to 3185 thanks to the incredibly talented @misiekped)

And even gen hour jumpers break down, although more so in the 3186 variant. Either way, I'm super excited to write a review of the BP 126710 CHNR once, and if, it safely lands at my doorstep.

I'm finishing up repairing a couple of 2824 CHS movements. I have one of my own I repaired. All of them have restored quickset date feature, which requires a minor mainplate filing mod. Doing this made me wonder if it would be possible to restore that feature in an otherwise fully functioning, non-broken movement. If so, one could use the hour jumping feature to adjust for GMT offset, DST, travel, etc. but still have the convenience of quickset date. Then the movement would REALLY beat the pants off the gen! Well, til it breaks again, sigh.

I know what you mean about adjusting the gen though. Surely Rolex can do better than that. Have you ever read about the complexities of the Skydweller movement? The date flips over twice on the 30th in 30 day months!

I must admit that, if you travel often, the CHS is incredibly more convenient than the ICHS. I have had both and setting the ICHS takes ages compared to just move the hand forwards or backwards X number of jumps...

When I was travelling in September from the US to NZ and back I had just received my ICHS GMF batgirl and I found it a bit of a hassle to keep the GMT hand on home time changing time at airports and all that. Of course I could have just used the bezel for local time but at the time I still had to get used to looking at a 24h hour hand display. CHS with independent hour hand would have been nice

Now I just wear it with the GMT hand set at NZ time and the bezel at NL time and it does not matter, now rhe quick date set the ETA movement has is nice. And at least it won't blow up

My incoming BP CHNR-if or when I finally get the QC- has the "lite" CHS so I will be able to find out how much I like an independent hour hand

So, turns out we all have obsessions with our watches. Some people can’t stand a misaligned rehaut, others can’t live with a wrong Rolex coronet, and seems like I really can’t stand bad SELs. It makes the watch look fatter, bloated, chubby. I like curves on my women, not on my watches!

Something had to be done, and...

Well now it does really look & feel like a proper tool watch. Travel, adventure, you name it, a proper pilot’s watch!

Not gonna lie, that's pretty badass. I twitch violently every time I see SEL gaps, no matter how tiny, even on my gens. NATO is definitely growing as a fashion trend as well. Amazing look mate!

And if I may add: less than $250. I mean, really. This watch should be in every single Rolex collector in this forum.
I totally agree, in hands (on the wrist I should say) this BP is just hot as hell.

Waiting to get my new 2813 movement to finally have it work, can't stand to see my 16710 lifeless in the watchbox anymore...

So my 1675 with the -for the watch- CHS arrived yesterday from Nembo's corner. Nice vintage vibe with a flimsy bracelet-was kind of expecting that. Kind of scared to screw/unscrew the little bracelet screws, should probably give it an oil bath first. Keeps good time over night and sets and winds easily. Nice pressure on the stem for when putting it back on.

Unfortunately the bezel moves around freely. I popped it off with very little pressure with my thumb nail. I see no wire spring like my Vostoks have. Can anyone tell me what kind of mechanism should there be in place to secure and keep the bezel in place? I guess this does not have a "click" action like my GMF Batgirl.

There should be an octagonal wire in a bezel groove. Post some pics if you want.
