Came across this and I am thinking of pulling the trigger.

I typically don't like buying rose gold plated watches but this YM was always a knockout to me. However I did not want to spend 500 USD on an ARF for a plated model that can wear off in months to a year... plus I heard horror stories of Noob plating on this model....

2813 is a relatively bad movement, but if it dies I can at least replace it with another 2813 and if not then at least it may still look good... and if the plating wears off its easier to eat the cost of 188 USD than 500.

Thoughts?

I haven't seen any one buying it on the forum but it looks quite good (at least for 188 USD!). I think it's important that the RG has the right colour and that's quite hard to judge based on pictures only...

Gold plate wears off - even on gens it wears off - it just takes longer.

A $188 gold plated watch should be seen as something you wear for the summer - a short period before it starts looking like crap.

That's probably a general idea of how things go yeah. Plated watches are always a risk. Spending 500 USD on a plated watch and a rubber strap is just a bit much for the risk to reward ratio imo.

As far as 188USD for a gold plated watch meaning it would go to shit fast, I'm not sure. A poster I pm'd who has one said it still goes strong one year later with almost daily use. The major reason it's so cheap is cause of the weak movement. The same watch with a 2824 is 300USD... close to noob pricing.
