Daytona 116519 Noob or Arf Version?

Thanks for the elaborate answer! Yes, I meant the color of the numbers, sometimes they are nicely silvery-white on the v3 noob, but often they tend to look very dark, blending in with the rest of the bezel due to lighting or reflections:

Oh Ok yeah that's characteristic of Noob's coating on the ceramic part. It's the ceramic part that appears brighter, not the letters appearing darker. I thought you were talking about the letters, because on my ARF the letters have accumulated a lot of dirt that's hard to clean and when they're not that clean they look "darker".

ARF and CF bezels look better compared to what you don't like about the Noob, but not a lot. The gen has the same effect as well, it's just that it looks worse on the Noob.

Here are some photos of a noob V2 bezel on a Franken that has CF bezel installed. I deliberately left dirt on the bezels and took the photos at strange angles to show the reflections:

Thanks a lot for your photos, CF and v2 bezels seem to be really similar.
This is a gen 116500 and as you can see the bezel brightness is like a rep under that light

Yes, their main differences are on the letters: The infamous "R" and general font of "units per hour" and how detailed the numbers have been embossed and printed.

Having a V3, I think upgrading to a CF is not THAT worth it. Will stick to a v3 bezel for now.

Yes I now have a V3 as well, and the difference is not THAT much. In fact, I might use this V3 in my next franken without upgrading to CF.

The “best” bezel debate is fairly subjective. I had ARF v2 bezels on mine which I changed to a CF. CF has the darker greyish like shade indoors (which is how gen platinum plating looks) and then becomes brighter outdoors. ARF v2 was too white for me. I have no experience with Noob v3.

Also, for folks who go all out with Mods/Frankens, the whole project costs a lot. Changing the bezel is only a small part of the cost :)

Great collection. I like that Omani Khanjar 6263! A modded cartel? My 6263 is a DW, I have a gen val23 awaiting installation and will prob source a Ruby dial with more matte subdials sometime down the road.

Woa, that DW will look amazing with a ruby dial.

Yes the Khanjar is a modded/franken cartel with extensive case reworking using a gen 6263 as a model by the great slay . It doesn't have a lot of gen parts, but it does have some, so I'm calling it a franken. The dial is sourced by MQ.

My 6263 gold wrapped paul newman is a DW with 7750 inside.

The 6263 silver "big red" is a watchguyusa1 build with a one gen part as well, not enought to call it a franken I guess.

Oh, and the 116500 that you see with an 116519LN dial inside, has a gen 116519LN dial! I sourced it through a couple of watchmakers in Plan Les Ouates in the summer.

What's not in the picture is an 116515 rose gold, for which I have already bought a gen 116515 dial.

Nice! Great selection with great mods!

The ones in my pic are:

1. DW oldschool MysteryMovement 6263 with gen tropic and gen clasp, awaiting val23 transplant and hopefully a ruby dial and better bezel without „I I 0” issue and with better S shape in UNITS

2. Noob a2824 116520 Franken with gen APH chromalite dial, gen bezel and gen crystal. I want to move all these gen bits into a new 4130 noob 116520 base soon.

3. V3 Noob 116500 with lower crystal gasket fitted so far, hopefully to be modded with arf dial and arf clasp.

Just wondering and when i wrap the case with 40 microns of gold can it be plated or wrapped with palladium?

That gen dial looks really good. The main flaw of the noob is the polished surrounds on the chromo sundials on the rep is way too thin.

How about quality of the rubber strap and clasp of the 116519 Noob ? is it correct ? do you need to change for a gen strap ?
