Sorry if this is already discussed elsewhere, but why is there advice to wait for the ARF CHS? Is it going to be any better than the 2824 based CHS that we currently have, or are they coming up with a true clone 3186 movement?

It's mostly rumors and speculation.. They are supposed to be working on a new movement that is much better than the 2824 / 2836 based CHS

Trusty (or whoever runs their Reddit account) said it is the same movement as Noob.

Theoretically it could be. Already some members have taken their SH3135 and added various gen parts to make a sort of franken 3186. If they release the rumoured movement and if the parts are of a decent quality, it should be good. At the moment though we have seen nothing, it's all rumours and possibilities.

The factories making these rep movements tend to do best when they have something to copy, take the newer "same thickness as gen" secs@6 movement from the portuguese versus the previous thicker hacky versions.

SH3135 to Franken 3185s are pretty rare, probably less than a handful. Gen parts alone for the mod are about $600. And then add in the cost of a base SH3135. Chinese factories could do it for way less, and we end up with what we have now, a cheap parts time bomb. Lot of trouble to go through for CHS. I'll take a gen Swiss 2836 with Helenarou GMT bits any day. The HR movement then gets reused as a great quality 2836 replacement so total cost for the gen Swiss GMT mod movement is about $225.

This is a great analysis. Never thought of it that way.
