Which non-Rep Rolex/Tudor Homage Would You Buy?

Are there any non-replica Rolex or Tudor homage watches you own, or would own? I'm thinking along the lines of Gevril, Squale, Parnis, Steinhart, Alpha, etc.

Personally, I like different pieces from all of those names. But, I own only one of them - the Steinhart Ocean One Vintage: https://www.steinhartwatches.de/medi...1545380259.jpg It's a sweet watch, with nice weight and finish.

I particularly like the Gevril Tribeca: http://gevrilgroup.com/images/gevril...%20Tribeca.jpg
And, this Alpha Paul Newman homage: https://alphawatch-1993.com/wp-conte...018/12/1-3.jpg
The Squale "MilSub" isn't as good looking to me, but it's definitely interesting: https://i.pinimg.com/originals/64/96...b12b44c124.jpg
As for Parnis, they are the cheapest of this group -- and have a lot of good looking homage pieces, though the quality is unknown to me.

What are your thoughts?

Top of the list for me would be a Ginault Ocean Rover.

I seriously waffle between wanting to franken a JF 16610LN or just buy an Ocean Rover. Probably will do both ;)

Wow! I like that - especially the sword hands and glossy dial. Nice choice!

Invicta pro diver.

I have thought about those, but the only Invicta I ever owned was a dud. Stem fell out of the watch and it had a really cheapo quartz movement. Maybe, I'll revisit the Invicta brand. Some of the Pro Diver iterations look pretty nice.

I’m interested in NTH watches. They seem derivative of several different watches which avoids the problem I have with homages - for the most part they really do look like second rate copies.

I have not heard of the NTH brand. Looked them up just now. I like the Odin, Nacken & Barracuda models. They do have nice elements from different brands. I see the Submariner and Seamaster influence.

I have several Parnis and always very surprised about the very good value for money...the weak point is the movement...sometimes Miyota 8215 ( very good, but low beat and Very noisy) but Often dg 2813, good but it's a hit or miss...
Steinhart is a very reliable brand with nice watches and very good movements...but price is higher too...Same for Squale...
Alpha, the only interesting model in my eyes is as you said the Daytona homage...but not an automatic movement...Just mechanic...

I've been happy with this Ticino- it's a 6538 homage. Sapphire crystal, Miyota 9015 movement, good blue lume and WR. As I recall, I picked it up for around $280.

Haven't seen them around lately- guess it was a limited production type of thing.
I've also enjoyed a gold Invicta YM homage lately- it's got the Seiko NH35A movement which has been spot on so far

That Ticino is nice looking. Very cool and a nice price to boot. I love the vintage, homage Sub watches -- especially the MilSub's.

There are two microbrands that stay miles above the rest: Ginault (for 6 digit subs) & Gevril (for Daytona - Paul Newman). Prices aren't low, but they are on par with many watches twice or more their price tag.

Here's my Ginault:

And here's my mate's Gevril:

I had two Steinhart before and this is absolutely another level.

You can't go wrong with Steinhart, Squale, NTH, Halios, Helm, Gevril, Zelos, or Ginault. There's lots more worth a look but those are tops on my list from experience. You can google them for days on days, and I always find another it seems. Micros can get habit forming real quick.

Alpha and Parnis are cheap attempts of a look. Plenty of better micros or homages. Invicta isn't a brand I'd recommend but it is what is.

If you want to go cheap, may I suggest Tiger Concept. They have very decent versions of the most classic Subs and Explorers for merely $150. Check it out.

Same here... I have a nice "Big Crown" that works flawless despite his DG2813... good quality steel and bezel... Can't go wrong for that money!

Exactly. Here's my "Bond Tiger" side by side with my Ginaul (before I changed insert and seconds hand). It's a lovely watch!

Been disappointed by my Panis. Looks good on the outside initially, but closer inspection shows indices and bezel inserts are not aligned, insert paint started chipping and flaking off, crystal is only held on by some weak silicone glue and no actual gasket, metal also seems week and screw threads strip easily.. I mean it's cheap, but you pay for it in its sheer lack of quality.

Didn't realize they were that low quality. That sounds like what you might get from DHGate or AliExpress. Hmmm...I was actually thinking about adding a Batman GMT from Parnis. It's not a watch I'd wear much, but would like to have an example of that look in my collection. Reconsidering that idea now. THANKS!

For myself, I think I'll stay in the sub-$500 for a homage - unless it's very special (like the Steinhart Ocean One Vintage). The Ginault is a beauty. But, at around $1k (the few prices I've seen), that's more than I care to venture in a homage piece. I really like that Tiger Concept. I have to revisit those as well.

This is turning out to be a good thread. Loving the photos folks. Keep sharing!

Just checked out Tiger Concept- haven't been there in a while. I like that Rose gold Day-Date- interesting. The older Tiger Concept watches used to be good base watches for making mods- back when they had lugholes- but alas, the lugholes are gone from what I can tell. But you can get them with Miyota 8215s and 9015s which makes for a reliable beater. The old 5508 model that I have has a DG2813 movement that's still running fine- I put a Rolex sub dial in there that I got from Helenarou

Very surprised...May be the new ones...I bought mine several years ago, and never seen crystal held on by glue...Just my " milgauss " parnis had the crystal not correctly in it's place, but with my press the problem was solved...
