If you like you can read my journey over here:
https://forum.replica-watch.info/fo...72-how-i-built-my-franken-submariner-16610-jf
It’s a long read but most of your questions should be answered then.
To cut a long story short:
- Take JF LN no rehaut version as a base or I would rather recommend a ST case (JF LV case had sometimes water resistance issues with the crystal and LV bezel will more rarely accept gen insert without modding)
- Get a TC or gen LV insert or a WSO and change pearl plus search a gen bezel assembly. JF Bezel is not producing nice clicks (IMO) and the insert itself is way too dark for my taste. Yes there was also a dark gen version, but personally I prefer the light green one.
- Gen DateDisc shouldn’t be an issue to find and Crystal as well. For both you can ask BananaSplit
- JF clasp is quite nice if you polish the flip lock a bit. Otherwise it’s a bit too sharp...
- Most tricky thing will be the LV Maxi dial once you go with a LN version. Maxi dial is rare to find and the LV Maxi dial is also not very nice (again only my opinion, but it doesn’t have the nice black shine like gen or TC KH dials have)
So whatever you do, it will be a long journey. If you don’t want to wait and are not bothered by the above mentioned things, go and get the JF LV version WITH rehaut. Because then you don’t care anyway about those tiny details and it’s overall a nice looking watch. Just get it waterproofed then.
Good luck
