Hi
I'm kinda new to this forum but after lurking and reading up old threads, the 1016 has really got my attention
seems like most people recommends building one myself r getting a modder to build it for me but i still got some questions i hope some of the more experienced members could help me with
I've came up with the ls it below i kinda hope i can get an estimate for price on too if possible
Thanks!

Rolex 1016 build
case jmb
crystal jmb
crown jmb
dial yuki
hands yuki
mvt gen 2824

i saw some people using a 2836 is there any reason for this?
if i do use a 2824 do i have to remove calendar parts?
is a spacer required for the movement to fit?
whats the difference between a jmb v1 and v2?
are raffles cases any better for its price?
is there any versions for yuki dials i should take note of?
is the list above even possible to acquire easily?
are bracelets hard to source?
whats the price for assemble for this kind of project?
is there any level of water resistance at all?

Of course if anyone is willing to help me assemble this that would be great!

I talked to jmb last week and inquired about the 1016 case- it's currently not available, but he's hoping now that CNY is over that maybe he can get some from his supplier.
His case takes a 2824-2, other cases like from the rep mfrs may take a 2826-2. Cases from raffles dials aren't correct for the 1016 build. Yuki dials are simply a matter of picking one you like and going for it. If you can get a jmb case the rest of the parts should be easy to get. JMB used to assemble these watches, don't know if he still is- you'll have to ask. Having someone assemble one should run $100-200- it's really pretty simple. You'd have to ask jmb about WR. I built one with a 1601 DJ case and it's WR- used a 2824-2 movement- jmb made the bezel for it but that's been 7 years ago!

Other cases that can be used are the 16000 DJ and the 16200 DJ. But the 16200 DJ comes with a sapphire crystal so you'll have to make some mods to fit a plastic crystal on there.

Thanks for the response!

Guess I'll start with the case from jmb first, is my shoping list alright?

Do people usually buy all the parts and then mail them to a modder to assemble it all?

Here's JMB build I have purchased m2m a few yrs ago. I put a customed true gilt under line dial on it. The case needs a bit of reshaped on the lugs but I can't be bothered.

I also love the 1016: how to contact JMB or buy some "basic" 1016 to mod?
Thank you!

edit: I just saw JMB here and wrote in private :)

Not sure if this is the best place to ask this but does anyone know if a standard rep 1016 case can accommodate a Yuki crown? I purchased mine from InTime and am looking to change out the crown but want to make sure it will work.

Also sent JMB a inquiry about a case last week, and he said he hasn't been able to get the base cases for about 6 months, hopefully some will pop up sooner or later.

Does JMBs case come with the bezel as well?

Yes, his case set included the case, caseback, bezel, crown and tube and the plastic crystal. Can't remember if he included a movement spacer ring or not, but those are cheap from raffles.

Over at RWG.cc, JMB said he was going off on a vacation, but later on when he gets back, maybe in July, he'll crank out some more 1016 case sets.

I have a spare 1016 case set (actually the whole original intact watch once I have the dial and hands put back on) now that I have the JMB case- it’s not on par but I had the lugs drilled and it has a nice domed crystal with it actually. Initially came from InTime. Anyone have any interest?

So I recently got a JMB case, Yuki dial/hands, ST2130 movement and the modder I sent the watch to says the hands do not fit as they are designed for a gen movement. Are there 1016 appropriate hands for my movement? It is a 2824-2 clone right? Any direction on this is appreciated!

YES !.. ST2130 is a 2824-2 clone so any mercedes handset for 2824-2 will fit ... just check the size and shape so that they look OK in a 1016 watch.
Your movement has a 28.800bph frequency ... which is too high for a 1016 but nobody will check that and it will help for better accuracy.
1520/70 movements beat at 19.800bph so if you want to get close to that frequency you'll need a low-beat ETA or clone at 21.600bph.
