Rose gold Noob Daytona plating “issues”

Just started to notice the plating on my Daytona is fading, not had it long, and thought I’d share the photos, I don’t wear it every day, probably twice a week...
anybody know if it can be sorted? Will polishing it make it worse?





Hopefully you can see what I mean on the photos, it’s only small now but I guess it will get worse, such a shame as I love it

The plating is known as IP or ionic plating which is very thin...well known issue

Yeah so polishing or going over it with a soft cloth will just make it worse, thought so.

this is my third Rose gold piece and will most likely be the last, oddly enough I had a YG piece which was fine after a year, wonder if it’s aomething to do with the rose plating methods

I was just about to pull the trigger on a 116518LN Paul Newman Daytona on Oysterflex. Might give it a miss now and just stick with the 116519LN.

Your only option is to find somewhere to replate it, I’m sure many guys on the forum could point you in the right direction.

You can always get it re plated. Not sure on how much it would cost.

I got the paul Newman one in YG. It’s a great watch not sure if the oysterflex is YG or RG.
I love it, the one thing tho that I do find is the subdials look gold in the light they look more champagne in darker light (I think they should look champagne more but I have not seen gen to check it out. Hope this helps your decision.

Hi mate, have you had any issues yet with fading? I hear the YG are better than RG in that regard. I love the YG Paul Newman Daytona, such a summer watch!

No, I have had no fading at all pal. I asked puretime before I bought it about fading and they did say that issue was rose gold.
I love it. I always get comments about it. Here are some pics comparing the QC pics with wrist..

Thats absolutely stunning! I’ve been on the fence with this one or the 116508 with green dial but your pictures have made my mind up, Paul Newman dial it is!

And you mate it’s a beaut. I looked at that one, the oysterflex but the YG with black and those subdials .. its my favourite Daytona easily

One other thing in puretime there is a bad review. About it keeping time. I did think mine wasn’t and had to correct it a couple of times but now it’s all good - this may have been my paranoia ..

Change it completely, have it coated with cerakote or something... gold plating never lasts ????

waiting for my yg newman (no oysterflex) to arrive and qc for the same rg 116515 with oysterflex - i only have a rg ym (noob) and i dont have any problems with the plating...but maybe its because i only worn it <10 times... :/

but...even if its a complete mess after a while i still have a 4130 clone ;) - but i also dont plan to wear these yg rg watches on a daily/weekly basis...

WatchaholicMallorca can you please post clearer pics maybe with a circle on the spots the plating goes off? these will be the spots i ll check after receiving/wearing the watch...
