You got an VR3135 converted to 3185?! Was it easy as ttansforming SH3135 to 3185 or did it need anything else other than the 6 gmt parts that are needed for that transformation.

VR3135 is the exact same as SH3135 but with a much better build quality (2 of my best watch makers have acknowledged it). Hence same set of gen parts required for the 3135 to 3185 conversion. BTW, it’s more like 10-11 parts required. Here is a picture of final watch.

Its magnificent. I'm planning to do an GMF CHS Wrapped Rootbeer conversation. "VR3185",gen xtal, gen dw , beveling the index markers and replating them would make the perfect CHS franken without buying gen handset and dial.By the way your build looks beautiful.

Base Watch: Noob v9 116710LN
Noob bracelet with ARF clasp (I had to buy the whole ARF bracelet for this)
Movement: The new VR3135 converted to a 3185 using gen parts. Additionally, gen 3135 complete auto wind module, gen 3135 barrel/mainspring, gen 3135 ratchet wheel, gen 3135 winding stem and gen date wheel
Gen Dial, gen hands, gen bezel assembly/insert, gen xtal, gen crown and crown tube.

Other than their DJs and quality parts (bracelets, dials etc), I think ARF is falling behind. Noob is just eating their lunch. This new VR3135 movement is stellar in build quality and finish, even the polish is gen like. Besides, the right way to do a GMT is to build a 3185 from 3135 base. There is no way a ARF build will come close.

In other news, angus confirmed in another thread that arf have pushed back the release until after the 2020 Chinese New Year (ie after January 2020)
Do not bank on Angus. For more than one year he has been consistently wrong regarding the release of the new ARF GMT.
I don’t know if it’s fair to blame him. It’s not within his control when ARF release a watch. I’m just appreciative of him giving us some insight into the industry
But Angus has full control over his predictions. And predictions are tricky, specially when they concern the future.

To say that ARF is finished by Noob is prety far removed from the truth. Noob was THE factory in the past, but just not too long ago, Noob was tethering on being redundant, hanging on only by its Daytona and 4130 movement. ARF had better quality reps in general, their bracelets are amazing, the sub is better OOTB than the V9 IMO, they have the best DJ, their Daytona also has a better dial and bezel (until CF bezel came along), and their YM release is also said to be better than Noob's.
Noob having back to back releases of Daytona V3, GMT BLRO and V10 subs allowed them to come back into the game swinging, but to say ARF is out of the game? They could very well release improved versions of their products and the pendulum will once again swing back in their favor. That is, until the next releases by Noob, and so on.
I'm happy that 2 big factories are fighting it out like this. Good for us consumers.

ARF told Angus they’ve delayed the GMT until after the Chinese New Year. Angus related that to us. I think we agree that that’s not a guarantee that it will be released in January 2020.
Angus didn’t predict it would be release after CNY. He was relaying a message
