I'm new to the forum and need a little help. I recently purchased an ARF 116610 904L with the Asian 2824. It has been a nightmare. When the watch arrived the rotor and bearing were in pieces inside the watch and the watch cant keep time at all (gains 15 minutes an hour). I want to just throw the movement in the trash and replace it. My questions are this.......I have an old replica that has an ETA 2836.

1. Will the ETA 2836 fit in the ARF 116610 904L Asian 2824? I read on some posts...... yes it will fit no problem and then other posts say it will fit, but there will be a crown issue.
2. if there is a crown issue can this be fixed?
3. So do I replace the movement with a new ETA 2824 or replace the movement with my ETA 2836.

If this were mine I would install a new, gen Swiss 2824. You've already suffered enough anguish with a new rep, there's no point in trying to use an old rep 2836. Trust me you will be totally happy with your decision knowing you have a solid gen movement in it, new and properly serviced that should run without cost or issue for many years. Eventually all my reps that I keep will have this done to them, you're just doing it sooner than some. If you dont want to spend the ~$180 now, the second best option IMO is a new clone 2824. This will run about $70 and *should* be clean and serviced since it didn't sit around a dirty factory waiting for dial, hands, case assembly, etc.

I replaced mine with a top grade eta 2824. It was a straight swap. Just changed the date wheel. Removed the clone daye wheel with overlay and install to the eta. And install the dial then hands. Best mod i did since its a daily beater. Gains maybe 2 seconds a week after some tweeking.

Haha I have a similar issue. I damaged my chines 2824 stem release button and now my stem falls off and I can’t wind the watch. Is there a certain type of ETA 2824 movement we need or and real ETA 2824 will fit in with the brace that’s inside the watch?

You don't need a new movement for that, your keyless works needs to be reset. Any 2824 will fit your case if you choose to replace it.

Are the 2824 rep datewheels easily swappable to gen 2824? I was playing with a DG2813 just to practice on and re-gluing the datewheel was a pain.

You should be able to just take the entire datewheel (metal plate with teeth) AND the overlay from the rep, remove the gen ETA DW and insert the rep DW + DWO into its place. They are the same parts, except that your rep DW already has the correct DWO glued onto it.

The Seagull ST2130 is very good also and pretty cheap. Way way better than the low quality copy Asian 2824’s in replicas.

Hanghzou does make really good clone movements, too. They have both 2824 and 2836. Nearly 100% interchangeable parts with gen eta.

do u know where to buy gen ST2130?

I've seen some "gen ETA 2824" that look so good on ebay but i know they are fake cuz of the small tells of the curve of near the balance.

And I seen fake seagull's too. I dunno how to find the real ones. I think all seagull 2824 have the perlage on the back right? or do they make plain metal ones?

Ebay has them - don't confuse gen Seagull with gen ETA. Seagulls are just (a lot) better quality clone ETA's.

U.K.
Don’t forget you will need a H4 canon pinion set otherwise the hands will be very close to the dial although you can get lucky if the ARF hands have longer than standard posts. Be very careful removing the hands!!

AFAIK ARF uses long tube hands. On the SD43 they do.

Hangzhou 6300 is an alternative, too. IMOP it‘s a tad better than Seagull and more parts are interchangeable with gen eta 2824 parts. Price is nearly identical.
