Hello everyone!
In the next few days I would like buy myself a postponed Christmas present.
I was evaluating different options (the choice, quite heterogeneous, would be between Rolex Datejust-Explorer-Sea Dweller or Patek Nautilus-Aquanaut).

On the site of a TD I found the VINTAGE ROLEX section, they attract me so much.

For example: https://puretime.io/vintage-double-red-sea-dweller-1665-dial-1.html

The thing that worries me the most is the bezel, too much "new" compared to the aged effect of the watch.

What do you think guys? Is there any good vintage reps or are they all rubbish?
THX

You don’t want that one. You want the JK factory reps. Doesn’t look like Puretime has them although I’m sure he can get them if you ask. I just got a JK 5512 and it reminds me of the old MBW reps. Heavy and solid. Ryan at In-time has them and he’s a trusted dealer here. The only major flaw as with all the vintage reps is the crown and crown guard but that not too difficult for a modder to fix.

There’s a very good explanation how to vintage a Rolex watch in the Tech forum
https://forum.replica-watch.info/forum/tutorials/91708-how-to-age-your-vintage-rolex-bonesey-style
There are no pics anymore but at the end you find a pdf file from chronomatic.
I’m also new in this, but with this tutorial I was able to vintage my watch and I like it.
Or you ask a Modder in this forum to do this. Especially for Rolex vintage watch are a few very good modders.
Thank you!
What model did you use? From which factory?

As Dizzy wrote the JK factory watches are best for modding. I started with the cheap 2813 movement. They are really cheap if something will get wrong . You can buy them for 15€ from China on eBay. If you want a better movement the 2836 is very good but more expensive. In the tutorial you can see which tools you need. Not very expensive and you can use them if you have to fix something because every rep is a rep and not perfect, even if you buy it new. That’s the way I started and learned more and more. Vintage Rolex are a very good start to work on. Only the Daytona needs more experience in my opinion.

I started with a big crown 6538.
