Hi guys!

I would like to install an ARF dial for my 116520.

I know that it is possible to buy the dial separately but I also know that it doesn't fit in the Noob 904L. Who can help me to shave the dial so I can get it installed?

Looking forward to hearing from you guys.

+1 also interested. Im planning a similar build. I'm handy, but I'd gladly pay and hand this over to an experienced modder if anyone is offering to do so.

you need to shave from 29.6 to 28.6mm. I've posted some pics before and after.

You can put de dial on a dremel or shaving by hand (if you have a white dial), depends from the level of your skills.

Personally with dremel method i've noticed a circoular matt halo that it's appear after work (in my case was a glossy black dial that is ruined with this method).

Any tips/tricks on using the dremel? Im guessing lowest speed, but how to mount the dremel? Do you affix it to a press? Or do you just hold it by hand?

Mate do this on a black glossy black dial and you will see an halo that will ruined the dial with this method. Cou can’t see this on a white dial.

your dremel speed is too high , you are heating the metal and burning the paint

My halo is given by the black rubber on which the dial is fixed, it’s the rubber friction that give this

With the increased protection I used as documented in this post, there is no contact between the dial and the rubber washer.

Also, a lower speed is good and less force on the dial with the sandpaper. The goal is not to let the dial slow down from the force, this is what causes the friction.

Genius, thanks for adding the pics. Do you have any more you can add? I have a vise, dremel, and sandpaper (I can make a block easily). Im just trying to figure out what I need to grab from home depot or wherever to secure the ARF dial safely. Did you end up adding thick plastic (if so, how did you do it)?

I think you must have just clicked the link and not gone forward to post #588. Here's a link to that post

I've actually come up with another method I'm going to try as well. I epoxied a 28mm crystal die to a dremel shank. I'm going to drill 2 micro holes in it for the dial feet and then glue the dial on using E6000 glue. This glue holds really well, but is easy to slice through with an exacto blade to remove it after shaving. I may have to lightly grind some excess glue off the back of the dial, but the feet have to come off so that will require grinding anyway. I think leaving the feet on during the shaving is a useful benefit to help maintain position. I'm going to use the glue sparingly, maybe 6 or 8 small blobs inside the tick marks. I've been wanting to try this but I still have no movement on my shipping tracking number for my parts, so there's no rush. This method provides for no dial contact at all on the front side.

I've already used the shank and die combo to shave down a movement ring, so I know the concept is sound.
