A question for all the Rolex experts out there, does anyone know if a Genuine Rolex 3186 movement will fit into the Noob 116710 case set without modifying the case?

I've recently sold my Gen 116710 LN to fund a place on the waiting list for a 126710.

I really don't like the idea of throwing a load of money at frankening a watch only for the movement to crap out. The watch is going to be a keeper so I want to get it right as I miss my old GMT, I've considered seeing if I can get a 3135 converted to 3185 but comparing a converted SH3135/3185 conversion to a genuine new 3186 I've been offered at a very good price, I'd rather go down the 3186 route if it will fit.

yes.

you need to space the movement using gaskets or custom movement holder to get it centered, but any competent modder can do that.

its the same size as the sh3185 hybrid. cant remember if there are pics of the spacing in my thread in sig.

What are you guys doing about the crown height? Are you spacing the dial up from movement ?

The gen 3186 if screwed flush and flush dial will not allow operation of the crown.

i really don’t wish to space the gen dial as than hand spacing becomes a issue. And I see no easy or clean way of spacing the dial from the case.

i used a crystal gasket as movement spacer to center it. How ever currently had to space the dial in order to allow smooth operation.

ive debating retapping the case for better location or just hunting down a gen case.

I have mine installed now, and the dial is on by dial dots giving it probably .2mm if height and it’s a lot of pressure on the stem.

am also curious about this, have a 216570 Explorer-II CHS (essentially 2836) , I'm considering putting a gen 3186 into it. Just want to be sure it will fit, or what mods are needed to make it fit..

Also adding to this, what about the hands? Getting the movement to fit is one thing, but will the replica hands from 116710 or 216570 fit onto the genuine 3186 movement?

It will fit it needs a .4mm ring to space the movement. The gen hands have a larger diameter bore and will require gen hands if you install the gen movement. You could of course mod the hands to make them fit. FYI Gen hands are so much nicer!
