I haven’t gotten an updated quote for over a year. At the time, a single case was $1450 and there was a 20% discount for 10 or more, so $1160. Since there is literally no other 16710 option, I think it’s worth it, but I’m not sure how many people would agree. We would also have to supply a gen to work off of. If we could get a group together, I would buy a 16570 (identical case, half the price) and send that, and re-sell it when they are done (so not expecting the group to pitch in on the gen purchase, although I’d welcome help with it). I’d also see if Phong could take the price down further if I did supply a gen model, since he’d get the long term benefit of having accurate plans for future orders by others.

Now don't let me be the one trying to hold your dollars... but 1k for the case of an complete 10k gen watch? That sounds a little not-nwbig to me. Vietnam 500 $ 1675 instead of 15-30k was crazy shite already, but this project is really ambitioned. Kudos.

What is wrong about the 12,5 mm BP 16710 as a work base. I was just considering that myself. Its available with and without drilled lugs. It surely needs some parts, but is it unconsiderably faulty?

@jaqueslpro that BP looks great for a 2836, and I bet the finishing is outstanding. The reason to go big on a custom case is for those who want correct rehaut, crown position, etc., which can never change with modding on that one. Definitely not worth it to most, but for the obsessive compulsives, it would be!

If only BP or ARF or even Noob would do a GMT II with the correct case, they way they have with the sub.

Got you bro. Watches are a desease. They tend to make one obsessive for perfection and eat thousands of dollars. This custom order is definitely for the obsessed. When you consider the moderate price of the gen or the TC7X league prices in reps, then it sometimes feels like things are getting slightly out of hand.

Here is some old info I found:
"The most accurate option at the moment is a custom build using the 16570 Explorer II replica as a base and adding on a TW best bezel assembly."

It does not appear this is available any more.


So, what is the consensus on the best available 16710 right now? Is it the BP?
