and looking at this vid , it does appear to be the same size as the sub (29.5) , its no where near the size of the DSSD caseback (36.5) look at 3:06 to 3:15 in the vid

Wrong, not the same size. 29,5 open Sub & DSSD, not the SD43
heres a pic of the SD43 next to a subC the CB looks the same size
Working on one tonight. It’s 29.5 same as the sub. DSSD is 36.5

well now, thats not true either , the DSSD uses a 36.5
Yeah they work good for me. Sticky ball won’t cut it. Everything is really tight on these ARF.
No those are both reps. The one on the right is the latest SD with updated bezel. Some other things have changed as well. Doing a write up. I’ll have it done tomorrow. Installing a gen datewheel gen crown and tube. Possibly a prof cyclops as well.

The fit doesn't seem to be as precise as it should be and the size is a tiny bit too small. Consequently I find I have to really push down hard on the tool to ensure it grips the caseback properly without slipping and scratching. I've used it on the same watch as you OP so it does work, just.
