I have only one question for the experts.
I tried to find this info on this thread but i didn't get it.
Does the gen insert fit in the arf stock bezel?
Did anyone try it?
Thanks in advance

Noob 10 with gen insert. Its not a 126660 insert however having a spare 116660 had to put it to use. Pip sits higher

Hello peeps. I've just been offered a 126660 James Cameron that has a decorated 2863 based movement, the hands go forward when winding the crown forward like the clone movements. I think it's called an A3235 movement.
The code on the clasp is O22.

Anyone got any idea what factory it's from?

Well here seems exactly the place to share the highlight of my week. Small things are often the best they say.

Back in early 2010's I picked up a Panerai and SSDD in one of the backstreets in HK (as you do) for about AUD 160 each. Pricey I thought but I like divers.

The Pan still in fact runs like, well, a clock.

The SSSD date wheel ended up slipping out of whack once it hits the teens, the bezel ended up spinning like a pinwheel, the screw down crown stopped screwing down.

I loved that rep to death wearing it despite all its growing flaws. After all it kept time and had such a presence!

Since discovering the real (such fun) world of reps last June and discovered reps could be maintained (doh), repaired, aged, upgraded etc I often bemoaned the fact that I had eventually thrown her out in the last purge of the household.

I knew I held her in my hand quite a while before I said goodbye and tossed her in one of the bin boxes.

Well, surprised to find that bin box in a cluttered garage corner, forgotten, and lo and behold there she still was!!!

So needless to say I have very fortunately just arranged to send her to a rep friendly guy here to see what he can do.

So, not remotely aware back then but now I think I know, a 2008 SSDS 116660, correct?

Who would know what version from what factory.

I still don't see the tells or flaws in many reps (but as you can tell I don't care that much ie misaligned date wheel, on a Rolex!?) and its not a question of QC now and so rather academic, but very curious what you brothers and sisters can point out.

The case shape doesn't look canal Street/AAA rep to me .The pearl and ceramic insert looks like either a old noob or BP . Post a picture of the back and helium escape valve

I am not sure .Does the movement still run a bit ? 4 tick or 6 ticks per second /jumpy or smooth gliding? You can probably remove the caseback with your fingers or take the bracelet off /extent that massive diver extension and take a good tape roll with the stickie side and use that as a case back opener .There are probably people that can tell 100% by these pictures but some in this forum just can't be bothered .

The Helium escape valve is sunken into the case which crosses out noob .The valve doesn't look boxy so it isn't the AAA one I know .The BPs I think looked like the AAA ones but they might updated that down the line .

That means only one thing .

You have a Gen .Trust me mate I am a certified idiot and I passed the application of the small wiener club with flying colours :bash:

Oh I just read it was bought on the streets of HK. Then I am sure it's not a high end replica .It looks pretty good though and things were cheaper 2010 and not like 2022 800-1000$ sometimes....

The watch still runs, manual wind too, 6 beat per sec.

I've wrapped it for mailing to our member rep friendly watch guy here in Syd
@marrickville but might unwrap and remove bracelet and case back to have a look

...cracked me up - a gen...you have a good sense of humour

Happy to have refound a much loved old beat up DSSD rep and hopefully soon back in good shape

Cheers!

Mate, that looks awesome.
Is this an ARF V2 base with SH3135?
