Mind a quick breakdown? Added a gen insert to mine and looking to do xtal. Thoughts?

Sorry mate thats gen.

I think your progressing well. Imo the rep dial still doesn’t have the right blue. If I were you I’d be looking to get a gen dial and date disc.

Beyond that you’d be in great shape.

Hey fellas help a brother out. I posted a pic of my newly built 16613 earlier. It was built around a spider dial I’d collected many years ago. As the dial markers are goldish I presumed it to be for 16803/16613/16618. However inspecting other dials I’ve now noticed the font is usually gold not white like mine. Have I put a 16800/16610 dial in my watch or does a rare strain of white font dial exist?

I have never seen this variant. The 03/13/18 have Gold marker surrounds and Gold text.

Probably a “refinished” dial.

Not the clearest picture so it is harder to tell but the dial looks original to me, it just looks like a 16800/16610 dial with white gold surrounds. Keep in mind that Gen watches use white gold for the surrounds instead of steel so they will always have a bit of a colored hue to them compared to how steel looks

I don’t think those markers are original YG ones. The dial itself looks good tho. You might be able to find some original WG markers from and distressed dial and put it together for another watch.

Doing a bit of research it looks like the white gold does tarnish over time giving a goldish hue. I’m certain the markers would be original as the spider marks would’ve been disturbed. This is an example of a 16800 dial with tarnished markers.

This is the dial on the angle that shows the unique spidering. The enamel looks perfect front on.

I had one, it was flimsy and the weight was way off. I do not think most BPs accept gen parts without serious modification. Unfortunately it is gone a long time ago so I have no photos.

I was always put off by the possibility of the gold plate wearing off, now I know you can get them replated with a very gen like colour (and a more durable finish) it is purely down to weight for me, the lack of heft would drive me insane. Good point about not taking gen parts though, that's also a big negative.

I think that it's a thread about the 5 digit 16613 so that you are in the wrong place. I also think that your datewheel is great so not sure what the issue is
