SD43 Question for the modding experts

I have an XF SD43 and cannot find out if you can install a 3135 movement in it.
If so, does it drop right in?
If it requires mods, what are those mods....ie. movement ring, machining?
Want to install one in mine.
Thanks for the expert help.

The 3235 and 3135 dimensions (including stem heights) are the same. The 2824 stem height is very close. It's the 2836 stem height that is very different.

Its quite possible you can do this but it will not be a plug and play drop in. First test fit a 3235 movement with a dial on it and examine the stem hole position through the tube.

3135 in a 2824 case, this is what you want to see

The dial feet are in different places so the 2824 feet need to be clipped. You'll need to use a VR3235, not a VS as the VS has no dial feet holes given it is more gen-spec and takes a newer generation dial with underside rims and no feet. Then you'll have to glue or solder new feet onto the 2824 dial. Also you need new hands.

The 3235 stem will also have to be swapped over to the XF crown, and you may need a custom spacer.

People put 3135s in TC 2824 cases sometimes and there are other examples of this being done. Here is one I did recently.

Thank you so much for the detailed response.
Very informative.
A gen dail will be installed if that makes any difference due to the dial feet.

Best case scenario would be if the gen dial has the underside rims, then you could use a VS3235. The VS3235 can be a little temperamental, if you are making a nice Franken you may want to consider a gen balance and bridge.

So the VS3235 does fit with no issues.

Woah that’s great to hear. The stock XF dial and hands fit fine, and stem placement didn’t need to be adjusted? Excited to swap out the movement on mine if that’s the case.

Well there are some gen parts in there. Dial, hands, crystal, bezel and insert.

Can you post a side profile pic? Interested in seeing how the gen crystal sits on the XF. The gen SD43 crystal is thick and sits a little high above the insert.

Yeah that looks fine bro. I put a gen SD43 crystal in a Noob not long ago that ended up about the same. Those crystals are really nice. Thanks for the pic, enjoy!
