Quite the opposite! The cyanide free solutions I use are patent pending and made specifically for use on precious metals only. If used on a nickel layer, they won’t adhere as supposed and I should use different solutions.

The deposited layer can actually be safely brushed/scratched with a nail. It’s quite resistant.
That all depends by exposition times ofc

Considering how many platings I’ve done in the past 2 years if it was crap, you would see disappointed comments all over the forums :p

What does that have to do with Stainless steel watches though?

Yes I know, it's been tested for a very long time. It's in a lot of text books already. Cyanide free solutions vs Cyanide solutions. Tested over 5 days. Cyanide free was strongest in corrosion resistance and slightly better in hardness however where it scored poorly was with wear resistance. The conclusion was if you add Nickel to the Cyanide free solution you could achieve similar wear resistance.

I never said your plating method is crap you can extend the life further with proper clear coating and that wouldn't wear off till the 2 year mark.... but what you are saying about cyanide free solutions being just as good wear resistance to Cyanide solutions is literally goes against what every chemist/lab has conducted research on lol.....

We may have to agree to disagree or go to PM before we take up more of oascom thread lol.

Just the last 2 cents: I never said it’s AS good. I said it’s more than enough pal :)
Considering the health risks nickel baths presents (there’s a reason if we can’t do it in EU unless with proper equipment and ventilated rooms AND special authorizations) the gold strike is way safer.
Plus, 99.9% of the times when we’re speaking about rep watches you’re not plating on steel: you’re plating over already plated surfaces. That ain’t steel. Wish we knew what the hell that chinese crap is made of.. lol

Fair enough.

Yes that's true! I was just thinking SS because of this model oascom made.
Forgot about the rep factory gold versions. It's Titanium nitride, that's why the colour always look like casino door handles lol.

Sweet, would it help with plating if the entire bracelet was taken apart (center links)?

That would take forever lol. He would need another custom rack and maybe a bigger tank. Not worth it. He did right by dipping the whole bracelet.
