You mean the crystal gasket, yes? (A hytrel ring is a bezel gasket on a rotating bezel).

It's just the color of the gaskets they are getting from the current supplier. It was probably the cheapest source but clear gaskets are not more expensive sometimes. Cousins has awesome clear Daytona crystal gaskets for like $5 that I'm replacing all my Noob crystal gaskets with. Those were whitish too, go figure.

Some more photos, sadly the hands of the clean datejust are flat and in my opinion not look good. They are not slanted to like gen or vsf.
