Hi All

Wanted to get my brother a rep for his 50th - he will know it's a rep

I was thinking Rolex Submariner as the most instantly recognisable watch, with avoids any personal preferences - it being a classic universally design

I have a rep Explorer which is a bit temperamental. I would like something that is known as a reliable rep

Which TD or which watch would best suit for this purpose please?

Thanks
R

I mean, c'mon man - you've been around for long enough to know that no matter how it's dressed up, a "Best Sub?" post is never going to pass without mockery and ritual humiliation.

50th birthday calls for 50th anniversary Submariner. There's no other choice, this is perfect. Go buy the Kermit.

as for which factory (BP, JF, ARF, TC) to buy, and which TD to purchase, payment options and shipping options. You can pm Quetip. He will be happy to help you out, hes a very nice guy and will get you the best Kermit from the best TD in the market.

Can't go wrong with any of the Noob, ZZF, or ARF variants. Get it with the 28XX movement if you want reliability. Since your brother is approaching 50, a TC 16610LN or LV may be an even nicer gift (if you can find it).

A Kermit will be really nice

But given the year of birth I will go for a 1970 sub, 1680 Red, you can’t beat that

Do you have some sort of budget? If it is around 1.5 to 2k USD, maybe you can get trip or yodog to build you a custom 5512 or 5513 with a gilt dial and some franken parts.

Hold on, if it is THE anniversary. Aka MK 0 is cheap. But if it is a normal LV than is a normal price.
