Hello, a friend gave me a replica of Rolex submariner 18 years ago!!! and it has always worked perfectly. I have showered with the watch, I have done sports, swam in the pool and I am surprised by the good result. Until now I had never opened it and I wanted to ask you if someone can tell me what movement this is and factory of this fabulous replica could be. Thank you very much!

Movement looks like a 2824 or 2836. I don't know if it's an Asian or Swiss one though. It looks pretty tidy.

One of the forum veterans may be able to identify the watch from two indistinct pics of the movement - but it would probably help to post a few more of the watch from the front too!

You might have compromised its waterproofing by removing the caseback - so take care to silicon grease the rubber o-ring before you screw it back on. Might be worth getting it pressure tested before swimming in it again - or its years of faithful service could come to an abrupt and rusty end.

Thanks a lot P0pperini! I have included a few more photos and I think can be read 2836 2 inside. I will follow your good advice to hermetically seal the watch ;)

Your movement is a gen Swiss eta, but your bezel assembly is a mess! Whoever installed it put it on upside down! The teeth should be facing up, not down, which probably explains why it is sitting so high off the midcase. Your insert is ceramic while this model should have an aluminum one. Whoever tried to put it in, forced it so that may be why it broke.

Your watch is an early model of the 16610 Submariner, from a factory before they were given names. It’s a solid piece, so once you get your bezel assembly flipped over and the correct insert installed, you will have a very nice watch.

That’ll be a decent piece, once the bezel’s on the right way up and you’ve got an aluminium insert for a 5-digit Sub installed.

I didn’t even know it was possible to install the bezel upside down. Has it been like that all the years you’ve had it?

Beaten to it, lol at the bezel, luckily there are some decent aftermarket alu inserts, maybe someone here has a spare from a rep that might fit. Check the spares section.

Looks pretty good for the age. No wonder it’s still
Going with a gen ETA inside.

Hi, no no haha!!! I had a broken bezel from another watch that was larger and to see how it looked I turned it over so that it would hold on, but it is now in place again;) I am going to put a 16610 bezel in black aluminum like the original and buy another green 16610LV to see how it looks.

Ah righto... :)

Your 16610 would be more suited to a black insert though, as the 16610LV had the “jumbo” dial and hands. The term jumbo refers to the markers being noticeably bigger. But obviously it’s entirely up to you how you want it to look!

thanks again! Well, I have ordered both bezel :) and let's see how it goes. I would also like a quality bracelet but since I am so beginner in rep watches I don't know where I can buy a 20mm SS good 316 or 904l one ???? any suggestion???

There are various sellers on eBay who do these - WSO (wholesaleoutlet990) or WatchBandMan50 to name a couple. Rafflesdials also do them.
