Since posting I’ve read this is a Miyota movement.

That is a 2018 watch you know...?
The omegas now are either powered by a super clone e.g 8400, or by eta clone 2824.
U can go read up on the superclone. 2824 wise they are a proven movement but I don’t know if what they did to the balance wheel will affect its reliability.

Got it. I thought it was a newer version of a 2018 a omega released watch since Basel is gen watch platform. I’ll look into the 2824.

I know there’s a lot of skilled people on this forum so figured they might know more on reliability

Thanks

That is a 2018 gen watch yes, but also a watch produced by the factory in 2018, see below in the link u pasted, they actually stat when the watch was added to the their page.

Good eye. I see it now. Under the review comments at the bottom. Thanks for pointing that out.

Thanks. Good to know. I just want the one that will last the longest while being accurate and not as worried about noise, that is unless it’s annoyingly loud.

They *CAN* be annoyingly loud. Especially in lighter cases (titanium and open-style casebacks).
A solid caseback seems to contain the sound better than a windowed one.

That all said, the rotors can usually be quieted by a decent watchsmith as part of a service.

Go with a eta clone 2824/2836 or the miyota (usually the 8215) if reliability is the top concern as they are workhorse movements, and can be easily replaced with movements off the shelf if they ever breakdown. The super clone 8400 are less reliable and harder to replace.

Also keep in mind the Miyota 8215 is low beat movement (21,600 bph) and the ETA 2824/2836 is a high beat movement (28,800 bph). So the ETA 2824/2836 movements will a have a smoother second hand sweep. Interestingly the gen Omega 8400 beats at 25,200 bph.

I didn’t know the 8400 had a different beat per minute. You guys never cease to amaze me. Thanks
