Horology House allegedly selling Noob 116500 as gen

Horology House, who you may know from some of the rep vs gen videos, is in a bit of a pickle. Seems he sold a genuine 116500, but the buyer received a Noob and called him out:

In an attempt to stall, he claimed he was helping his parents, whose house had burned down in the recent bushfires. He posted a photo as proof, but a reverse google image search showed it was from a newspaper article from months earlier.

Making the saga even spicier, the same guy (Chris Essery) is a moderator on a couple of Facebook watch groups and any posts that raise the topic are getting deleted.

Yeah he’s admitted it was a replica, asked the guy to keep it quiet, the TRF thread exploded and now he’s shut down his website, IG and deleted his Facebook account. That response makes me think he’s done this enough times to be shit scared and is trying to cover his tracks.

I guess these scams are more attractive as reps get better

Yeah that’s really low to use such a tragedy as emotional leverage. He also claimed to have some connection to the New Zealand volcano to buy time as well. The guilt of doing that would be a heavy burden on a conscience; I suspect his is pretty shallow

Indeed, and I think these "Look how close to gen this fake watch is!!!" videos by the big name watch sites only go to exacerbate the problem, as more crooks spot the big potential for easy money. Conversely, it also works as a "caveat emptor" for gen buyers too. So... I've nullified my own moan. D'oh.
