Hello,

What’s the process of buying a watch from a seller with 0 posts?

Received a DM about a WTB post I made. Guy has no posts from what I can see.

Is there a way to remain completely safe as the buyer? Or best give a miss?

Hmmm interesting problem, I would be very cautious about buying from someone other than a regular known poster, when did they join?
personally I would give it a miss

I think you have to exercise some caution.
I missed a few sales initially due to being new, but once members see you have carried out trouble free transactions, all is now good.
but to answer your question, do some research.
perhaps search up some history if you get his name.
all may be fine, but proceed with due care.

If he has 0 post he won't be able to sell anyway. The only way you would be able to buy the watch is through a backdoor sell which a big no no plus you won't get any support from the mods if anything goes south and might even get ban

There is very good chance you are being set up for a scam. You have no forum protection unless seller starts a sales thread. Tell him to pay the Supporter fee and start a sales thread.

Thanks for the hints all. will give a miss.

long-term member but 8 posts all today

With posts like "amazing sub" he is going to get spanked for post-whoring. I'd stay away from whatever transaction has been proposed.

If he has 8 posts today and none previously I want to know about it please. This looks like a set up to become eligible to sell. This always raises alarm bells for us.

I am not even selling to people with no activity on the forum, let alone buy from someone like that.

Yes but if they have more than 25 posts they can slip through the net.

Thank you for the name, I already had my eye on him.

For new sellers who are eligible to sell, you could always try to find a trusted middle man to receive the watch. Basically, seller ships watch to middle man (like a mod or someone else trusted), middle man confirms correct watch, condition, etc., buyer pays, middle man ships to buyer.

Again, I would ONLY do this if the seller is eligible to sell and obviously if they wouldn’t be willing to do this, something is up.
