Hi folks.

Just thought you might like to see this.

It’s a rep “Heuer Monaco Steve McQueen” Calibre 11. (Quartz movement with high beat sweep hand on the stopwatch)

Before you’re all overcome with excitement, the LH crown is non-functional - the actual crown is very thin and on the RHS. Cheesy I know, but I still love it. The dial is great and the strap is lovely. It feels great on the wrist.

BTW the front-on pic where the crown can be seen is because it’s in the “pulled” position. It sits perfectly flush when pushed.

I’m happy with it but would enjoy changing the pushers for replicas of the 1969 original.

I ordered a T-shirt to wear with it but it’s too big and grey. A smaller, white version is on its way :)

it’s the little things :))))))))))

Final pic is a comparison to show the different pushers.

If you try to change the pushers you will need to fill their ports with stainless steel.
Remember to preheat the case above 250C before while been pressed (fixed on a jaw) to avoid distortion while cool down.

Also looks like you can file the lugs from outside only and surface its face (around crystal) to gain fatter margin (~0.5mm cut off steel).

Very cool project, keep us informed about, good luck!

sorry but i can't hold myself...
I think that this project is perfect to test UV nail curring oven (~10$ at amazon).
Since the red color is the easiest color to be "burned", i think that an exposure of a week could achieve the discoloration of 3-4 years in the Sun...

Sorry for the non-replies. I’m not getting any kind of alerts when replies are posted.

I’ll buy a UV lamp - is it necessary to take it apart or does it age sufficiently through the crystal?

Very nice, I miss my gen silver dial caliber 11 limited edition dearly:(

Intersting the hidden crown I have not seen that before, but why would they print quartz instead of automatic on the dial:frusty:

I've got the Gulf Oil version of this, it's a beauty for the money.

OK so I have just bought what appears to be the same Blue-faced Monaco as seriph in the original post from dhgate. One week from order to delivery from China. Its a really nice watch! OK don't expect anyone in the know to be fooled - and yes having QUARTZ in the face probably does not help but its still a great looker and feels great and the part on. Yes the real Automatic movements are the ones to have from a genuine and engineering perspective but the Quartz keeps decent enough time and I'll not be paranoid enough about taking this one out and damaging it.
