Just your average rep movement’s condition

Well I don’t often post about watchmaking enough anymore, but it should be said once in a while, that the conditions and quality of rep watch assembly leave a lot to be desired.

The following pics are from your average clone 2836 movement, never been serviced, just some close ups.

Stem dry & dirty

Black oil puddle

Dry automatic barrel & mainspring with a complementary hair inside. (Thick asian hair lol)

It’s safe to say that if you like your reps and want to hold onto them for a few years, it’s worth having them looked after by a professional.

took my rep to a guy i know and it ran great for years after a service - i think he charged me $50 - kept great time too !!

Most reps are pretty dirty straight from the factory.

My guy was a little watch store run just by him and he was totally cool it was a rep - he even got me a new crown with the crown on it
