Rolex Submariner Noob V9 or ARF 904L 116610LN

Hey Guys,

So I'm fairly new to this forum so excuse me if there is already a post about this, in which if someone is able to post it on here that would be greatly appreciated.

I am looking at getting my first rep submariner and I've been looking for a bit. I've come down to deciding between the Noob V9 or the ARF 904L 116610LN.

Its going to be a watch that I would wear out of the box for a bit and maybe down the road do a few mods to it, but id prefer the better out of the box look. I've herd ARF is better out of the box but I have not herd if its better out of the box compared to the Noob V9.

Any insight anyone has would be greatly appreciated!

While its true, there are 2 huge threads dedicated to each sub, they’re overwhelming. At this moment both are over 140 pages long. Assuming it takes you 5 minutes to read and comprehend a page, you’re looking at ~12 hours of reading for each thread.

If you’re looking for the short answer, get the ARF sub if you want nice ootb and only plan on replacing xtal and maybe insert.

If you want a sub you can grow with.. replace xtal, throw on gen hands, gen dwo, maybe upgrade to sh3135 or the new sa3135 whenever they’re released; get the noob sa3135.

When I stumble on this rep forum world 2 months ago I had the same dilemma lol...I went with Noob because I'm planning to add mods in the future. ARF if you want an out of the box look. IMO they both great...you can not go wrong since they are currently top of the sub game right now. I'm in process of ordering my 2nd rep lol...

As per today, i would say ARF a2824 is the best(better) choice. The date on SH3135 version has fat font. Most likely next week ARF will release 116610LN with the new SH3135V2 movement. According to Angus, it is more stable and they also have changed the date wheel.(example the new ARF 116613 LB https://puretime.io/submariner-1166...ition-904l-ss-case-and-bracelet-sh3135v2.html). Some people already said that now the font is too thin, i cannot express my opinion because is really difficult to judge from a pic. It is also a big question if the new SH3135V2 will have the same(or better) reliability as a2824.
I will wait few more days to see how the watch looks and then i will take a decision...a2824 or SH3135V2

I don’t post much but besides many others I’ve had the 2824 arf (perfect except crown height imo) and am wearing the sh3135 arf. Not only the date font needs correction, the 12 marker is too high and the bezel engraving is too deep, they correct these and it will be a bomb watch. I can’t speak for the noob v9 but I had a no date v8 and it can’t compare to the arf’s in Quality pretty much anywhere, crystal, hands, and bezel color quality(all black versions). Hope this helps, I’m in the struggle too.

I‘m not an expert, but if you want to mod a watch you should buy a noob. Arf is more ootb.

If you get the ARF, you can buya geninue rolex date wheel from ebay and have a watch maker install it.
