Nautilus PPF White Dial vs Old 'V2' Blue Dial

I just got the new white-faced PPF, after having bought the older blue-faced "V2" three years ago.

I wore the older watch almost constantly until I hit and broke the glass. After that, the crown fell off. This isn't the first time it fell off and the TD repaired it the first time.

Rather than repair the V2, I went and ordered the PPF.

There are enough white PPF pictures, so I decided to compare the two versions.

The thickness was never what they claimed. V2 was supposed to be 9.5mm but I measured 10mm (left) while PPF was 8.8mm (vs advertised 8.5mm)

The back is clearly much better.

Bracelet looks more flush (bottom) on the PPF. The newer bracelet is more pliant but lateral free-play remained the same. I wouldn't remove it from my wrist as it's a giveaway.

Side view of bracelet gives the impression the newer one (above) is thinner but both measured 3mm thick.

The rest are various angles to give you a better view of the white PPF.

But have you actually compared it to gen, because I've heard that it's quite rattly/cheap feeling too(?)

Yes, but it was sometime back when I shoulda bought the gen coz it was "only" $20k.

Thanks for sharing, this is very interesting, but what V2 is that? PPF did not exist at the time and the pf V2 just appeared a few days ago. So curious to know the factory. Thanks

I'm glad I'm not the only one that is somewhat perplexed about this.

No, this isn't the PPF V2.

The white one is PPF which is the latest white-dialed. I am not aware of any PPF V2 in white.

I do read of the PPF V2 in blue, which I believe was the attempt to correct the dial color that was deemed incorrect. I understand the V1 blue to be from the platinum, not stainless steel (see https://watchesbysjx.com/2015/11/ha...philippe-nautilus-ref-57111p-in-platinum.html).

My "V2" is an old Nautilus rep, of unknown manufacturer. It was called "V2" at the time, and I believe had a few things which were more correct e.g. dial color, date window, Miyota movement, and thinner, without the decorated bridge. I chose it over newer Vs, which some called V3 and V4. I also refer to mine as the "$298" one, which most TDs were pricing the V2 at (and still do).

My white PPF is what I call the "$498" one. It's also the same price for the blue V2.

It’s not a ppf v2. Back in the day there were v2, v3,v4 of the 5711 released. I’m not sure which factory ever released it. They were just known as eg v2

Thanks mate, I knew it wasn't a PPF or a pf, I did not know that there was a factory that shall not be named ;)

Yes, you're right. I never knew of different factories at the time. Successive versions were getting better and better, that's all we knew.

Now, there's PPF, MKF, JJF, PF...

I must confess that’s just what I’ve gathered from reading posts from before I was into watches

I agree, I seriously think that the mods should consider deleting this thread... It is full of misinformation

Wow, I must say my well-intended post is not welcomed by some who appear to be confused, even though it might be useful to others who, like me, bought an older version and may benefit from the comparison.

It's alright for me to delete it if the moderators believe it's disinformation.

Or just delete it for me please.

But before that, please point out what I posted is wrong. I believe we all can learn from your better knowledge.

I'm sorry if it looks like I'm undermining your effort in this post. It was not my intention at all and I appreciate the time and effort you put into this post.
However, the terms that you used may confuse other members (especially new ones), it was seems like you described the new pff v2 since you didn't provide a factory name or wrote clearly that it is an old model. As the other members pointed out in this thread, it was not clear.
After glaude change your post it is more clear now and I hope it will not mislead new members.
As a community we strive to provide the most accurate information and my intentions were only in this direction. Certainly nothing personal, so again, I'm truly sorry if you feel that your post is not welcome, it was not my intention.
