Here is an interesting thread about variations in the dial color over the years from a green blue grey to an electric blue and then blue grey again.

I have noticed that the earliest examples have the fat bars, then we went to the electric blue and finally we now have the blue with a "plate" for the text similar to the white dial.

Very interesting indeed! Is it me or the one with 15th on the date actually has green-ish lume? Also the markers are different, thicker on the 17th.

Yes, the lume is actually greenish on the blue dial variants. Both of them. The other dial colors for Nautilus (white, brown and pave) feature white lume.

Here is another interesting image. This image says there are three variations, but I believe there are four. I have seen fat bar, greenish blue, thin bar greyish green, electric blue thin bar, greyish blue with text placard.

I think they got Mk2 and Mk1 switched and I think our PF sits between MK2 (the thin bar) and Mk3 (text placard)

Anyway, look at this image:

Thanks for posting. I so prefer the grey undertones. Even the PF blue is too electric for the MK2

I think there are four variations. The PF is just before the Mk 3.

I think there are four variations. The PF is just before the Mk 3.

So you’re suggesting:
MK 1. Fat bar green blue
MK 2. Thin bar grey green
MK 3. Thin bar electric blue
MK 4. Thin bar grey blue with surround placard

i still think the Pf is too electric, regardless of which mark

Whoops. I just saw your previous post!

Yes. Looks like there are 4 different versions of the gen blue dial.
1) wide bar grey blue gradient
2) thin bar grey blue gradient
3) thin bar sunburst electric blue gradient
4) latest release is same as 3 but has the Patek & Genieve text in a box similar to white & brown faces

PF now looks like #3

I actually might have it wrong.
The fat bars seem to be mk 2 like the guy said. Im looking on chrono24 and some of the watches have dates. Seems like the wide bar (or 15 stripes) was more recent than the 17 stripe variant.

What I can tell you is after long research, our PF dials do seem to very closely match the electric blue 17 bar dials. Ive seen many many like that.

They dont match the 15 bar, nor the grey/greenish blue dials.

All in all, Im pretty happy. That watch below is gen and is a spitting image of the PF dial (once the markers have been moved in some)

Totally with you regarding the difference between the dials!
And
What was wrong with the markers ?

In a lot of cases the markers on PF dials are misaligned or crooked. I've seen one marker that was applied upside down. Also the markers on PF Nautilus models are attached to the dial using double stick tape as confirmed by a couple of RWI modders. Just have a look at previous QC pictures of PF Nautilus submitted by members and you'll see.

So, if I'm not wrong, you could take the front cover, access the dial and detaching the markers shouldn't be difficult, right? I'm tempted of doing it myself!

I would recommend sending it to sponge. If you scratch that blue or mess it up, you are going to be sick.

Just got my PF (DWO on the way) and yes the dial does match one of the gen variants. I posted some pics on another thread in this section comparing the PF 5711 with gen 5712 (which has the more less vibrant, blue-grey) dial. I actually prefer the 5712 dial color but am impressed with the PF Nautilus. Mine has good alignment of the markers. Also has a rnrprof crystal... which has me wondering if it would fit my 5712.
