Newb Question on VSF PAM088 Movement

I've tried searching for the answer to this, but can't find anything.

Apologies for the newb question but I've recently bought a VSF PAM088. On the outside of the dial, the second time zone hours are shown, when the hour hand advances each hour, the second time zone hand effectively moves two positions.

Is this correct, I believe the movement is a 7750?

Thanks

Yes, it's a flaw, incorrect movement, should be a 24 h GMT hand but it's 12h.

so, another question, as the 7750 has been around for so long, is there a part available to fix this shortcoming?

I don’t think so. The fact is that pam088 vsf uses a completely different movt., It is a clone of p.9001 instead of A7750.
I don't think it is possible to make any modification of this clone to change 12 hours to 24, and this has not been done on this forum, or has not been talked about.
Also theoretically, it is possible to replace p.9001 with 7750, which also I have not yet seen in embodiment, or even an attempt, but I am sure this will not be a direct replacement.

Hi Guys,

I've also been surprised on the second look. The 088 is IMHO one of the best GMT versions. This 12h, 2 rounds for the GMT hand in 24 hours is totally misplaced.
Anyway, I have a 683 with the P9010 and took it apart once for hand alignment. Noticed dial side has lots of similarities with the 7750, winding gear and stem as well.
within a few weeks I have a new 7750 and 7754 in stock to work with, I'll make some pics to check interchangeability.
correct me if im wrong but if the 9010 could be replaced with a 7750 the 088 Gmt movement should be possible to replace with a 7754?

Only thing for me, I have not found a supplier for Asian 7750 GMT or Asian 7754.
I bought a genuine 7754 to replace Asian 7750 GMT but those are hard to get and very expensive.

I'll post some when I have all in stock.

Happy Easter ????

Noob PAM088 has A7750 and GMT 24h. And gen has OP VIII that is ETA7750 based.

A movement 7750 is suitable for GMT 24h. I think that can be made using the date device of the movemet

IMO is a big mistake from VSF using an A7750 and not to apply the GMT 24 h.

There are doubts about the appropriateness of the hands, also, about the device of the case inside for fixing the movt., Also the adaptation of the date wheel.
In any case, I will be glad to see the result if we manage to make a replacement, well, and a list of work required for this.

Hi Guys,

Promised to get back on this...

Took some time to get the Movement and here are my findings:
A7750 with GMT change for genuine Swiss 7754 can be done.
Only is date wheel will not fit ( 7754 required thin datewheel) and the 7754 is a thinner movement so you need to be creative with some spacer. And of course get rid if all chrono parts and replace a closed minute wheel gap.

The movement Currently used in 088 swap for 7754 or Asian 7750 GMT,
none fit or you need to open the box of solutions.
Hands, fit.
Stem, fit, height is non fit but can be fixed.
Dial feet same position
Datedisk non fit, really different
movement holder same Diameter but there it ends the clamping edges are really different.

I recommend to avoid this 12h gmt on a 24h print till they solved this error if it bothers you.

Regards

Me.
