I remember correctly that the previous issue was from a 2-layer carbotech, and this one, apparently, was from a new one. Perhaps, due to the large number of models produced from the new carbotech, they decided to make an earlier model out of it? Just because of the larger supply of material and understanding where it will be sold. If so, then the thickness of the case is probably may remain the same.
