Hi guys,
I made rebuild of this nice piece. Fixed slippery hand winding and regulating to +/- secs a day, semiglossy painted dial due subsecond hand scoring, polished CP, gold plated hour wheel.
Weared on one of my favourite NATO straps:

My newcommer, my first Bronze Pam : the 968.

I'm very impressed with this watch, and it's not only about the physical 47mms. The combination of the dense bronze, aesthetically balanced dial, sword hands and chocolate insert is very seducing. And the nice ratio between width and height makes it surprisingly wearable on my midsize wrist.

It is just brilliant!

Love this 968!

Gentlemen, regarding this particular watch details, the insert's paint seem to have mostly flaked off the engravings. Is it a common thing with those VSFs? And is there a way to refill/redo a proper filling?

Thank you

No, it does not happen on its own, in the usual way. Since it is bronze, I expect the paint damage to have occurred during the patina removal process, either chemically or mechanically. You have to be careful, in this process it can happen with black paint on classic bronze.

You need a suitable paint that will cover the entire section of the ceramic insert, and then, when it is dry, scrape the paint off the ceramic with a razor. KJ has threads dedicated to this, true for the rolex insert, but the principle is the same.

I made it even easier: degreased, let it dry, applied acrylic paint, and simply washed it with a swab directly liquid, and it remained in the grooves.

The main thing is to choose the correct silver color. PAM968 VSF is not the most correct silver color anyway, and you have a reason to make this mod.

Thank you for your input KOT, this watch had a bit of "patina playing" indeed from former owner, it might be the reason.

I remember KJ's thread about DIY paint on insert yes. I can dig into it but my main concern is to find the proper color reference for this model. It's more a yellowish kind of grey of some sort. If anyone has a clue, I'll take it ;)
