Hey guys, my uncle gave me this watch and I'd like to know a little more about it. It's a Seiko, it says "5" on the dial and the movement stated on the caseback is 7009-8370.

My uncle says he bought it back in the 70s or so. Can anyone tell me anything about this watch? Model name, number, if there's any cool factoids about it, etc...

Here's some photos:

Imy a big Seiko fan but not that informed on various models. I do believe Seiko 5 models are middle of the road as far as Seiko classes go. Grand Seikos being most sought after and expensive.

The Seiko 5 series was introduced, as I understand it, as an affordable automatic watch with five functions: Hours, minutes, seconds, day and date.

You have a classic 7009 model there, 17 jewel automatic. Very nice!

Very nice indeed!
I have a couple of Seikos I love, and several others I'd love to have. They are impressive watches for the money.
Yours will garner MUCH love and envy on the Seiko watch sites like the one linked above.
She's a beauty!

Yeah, I was surprised when he gave it to me and told me how old it was. It's in great shape and holds excellent time!
