So, my NTTD Seamaster 300M arrived this afternoon and I was excited to open it (10 days from order to receipt of the watch in the UK, almost unbelievable).

The watch looks absolutely phenomenal, the case has the most gorgeous brushed finish to it and the colour by comparison to stainless steel is great, that combined with the more subtle matte dial and bezel finish it has a rugged type styling to it, almost a feeling of although it’s a delicate timepiece this watch was made to follow it’s wearer on their next covert mission... The detail is great, engravings are sharp, text looks crisp and aligned, edges well finished and just all-in-all a fantastic rep. One thing I didn’t expect is just how light this watch is, once on the wrist it’s like I’m wearing nothing at all, which is a little scary to be honest as I’m used to having watches that have much more wrist presence.

I only have a couple of gripes, the bracelet seems to protrude beyond the lugs on two of them, I’m not sure if this is a flaw, like gen or not but it’s a little niggle, the other thing that’s horrendous is the bezel, it feels awkward to turn, feels hollow, almost toy-like and the way it sounds is simply terrible (I’ve watched a few YouTube videos and can’t decide if this is like gen or not). The bracelet colour is still fractionally out too, so for those who were waiting to see what the V4 bracelet was going to bring I think you’ll need to keep waiting until a titanium version releases (I think the main thread shows a comparison of mesh quality between the two). The watch also arrived DOA which obviously is a big disappointment but I guess these things happen, does anyone have any advice on what I should look to do next with it?

I don’t really know enough about the rep to compare it to previous VSF versions or offerings from other factories but aside from a few flaws I’m very pleased with it, I’ve attached a few photos below but will look to get my camera gear out on the weekend and get some better ones, so if there are any areas of interest please let me know):-

Contact your TD in the first instance. Hopefully they can offer a solution but I'd avoid sending back to China if you can and where possible try to repair locally.

A movement replacement is an option or if you don't want the hassle you could look to sell as is (at a discounted price though)

I think this looks very nice, I like the bezel colours.
Bit worry with the feel and sound though, how is the clasp does that feel right?

Bummer about the DOA - hope you can sort something out with your TD.

What’s the size window from smallest to largest position on strap? Would be nice to see pictures with strap closed.

Thanks

Yeah I’ve dropped them a message so see what they propose, thanks for the advice around returning it to China, I’ll make sure not to go down that route.

Unfortunately my watch maker won’t touch a replica so selling a broken watch might be my only option, how much do DOA watches usually fetch?

The colours look great, it’s understated but beautiful and different to anything else in my collection, it’s new but looks vintage.

Clasp closes great with a nice audible click and feels solid once engaged, the release pushers are responsive and feel solid, the mesh colour is ever so slightly out from the case but I’d say it’s acceptable and only noticeable if you are really looking for it.

The mesh holes are spaced at around 7mm between each one, the smallest is around 6 1/2” (16.5cm) and the largest is just under 8 1/4” (21cm), I wouldn’t take these as exact measurements, more of a guide. There is no micro adjustment (to my knowledge) so the mesh might not be for everyone.

A few shots of the clasp closed and the mesh on smallest // largest setting, I’ve also included a couple of wrist shots, they seem to have become jumbled during the upload but it should be the mesh on the smallest hole and second from smallest, my wrist is 17cm for reference so I’m able to achieve either a slightly tight fit and a “just right” fit depending on what I need.

There are some watchmakers on the forum who work on replica watches (depending where in the world you are).

It could be something has come loose in transit (a screw or something) and jammed the movement. It will have a deco plate as well which is a pain (I've heard) to remove. You have to be careful not to damage further but does the watch wind at all, can you hear the rotor move when you move the watch?

I’m based in the UK so from what I can tell we don’t have anyone available at the moment.

The watch winds (you can feel and hear it winding), the time can be set but the second hand doesn’t move.

If the second hand clears the minute hand it sounds like something is probably wrong with the escapement. The fact you can set time and wind the watch suggests the keyless is ok.

That is the biggest problem with reps. No one close or easy to find to fix them. Nice looking watch by the way. I am thinking same as you, just sell a malfunctioning watch and move on..........

Thanks for the strap pics, much appreciated. Looks really nice, personally not bothered about the slight colour difference to gen.

I'm in the UK aswell and concur above, very difficult to find watchsmiths right now. You could try your luck with the shady 'off high street we buy all gold' jeweller if theres a guy who knows to fix stuff. I once took a rep to a corner watchsmith (unbranded) in London and they were cool with fixing a rep, might also be worth a go.

(unbranded) = not a chain I mean. The kind that fixes shoes watches and sells the strangest unrelated things (like £3 meal deals or something,,)

Looks like it, is that a recent picture? Would be great to have some clarity from the TDs that VSF are availible again

What do the long-term owners say. Is the watch still satisfactory?

Kind regards! 🎩

That's a nice looking watch! Thanks for the review
Just an idea, maybe it's time for you to swap the movement out? I'm not sure if the case could take a gen ETA movement, but if it could, and if I were you, I'd go that route.
And maybe I'll wear it on a nato strap so the back won't be visible - but nobody cares really.

Love mine but it has no lume at all, dull as dishwater that's my only disappointment
