Nice purchase. This is a great watch. It will be interesting to see what happens when the film hits-I would predict a whole host of homage watches coming to the surface for those that are less in the know than rep collectors. Some will probably use the same case, but a sterile dial etc. (Think these are already selling, but spot that to increase on release of the film). That may also push the TI bracelet forward, as the manufacturers will be able to sell tons of sterile versions.

‘Price appropriate’ is a strange term.
If you’re talking about investment, then I agree...the real deal Omega *might* be a more volatile investment than spending 7k on a Rolex.

Not in defence of any brand, but it doesn’t cost those big manufacturers anywhere near 7k to manufacture a watch. I’m sure two people could debate all day how much better value an Omega is than a Rolex, and vice versa. There are huge (and I mean gigantic) amounts of money to be made in the high end watch market. Hence why they can spend loads on advertising/ product placement (in films ;)), ADs etc. and still make a large (on paper) profit. I’m not saying there is anything wrong with making a massive profit-loads of money goes into R&D and things like Rolex’s deep sea ‘experiments’/ charities etc.

I wonder if Daniel Craig as he helped design it, gets a % of the profits?

Thanks, the NTTD is a great watch, the best SMP Omega have created imo.

I agree. No watch on this planet is worth thousands. The cost of production is significantly less but in terms of investment which I should have been a lot clearer on, your Pateks, Rolexs etc make more sense to dish out on that sort of money. Omega doesn't have the investment or currency value like the aforementioned. Still, Omega make nice watches and I prefer a lot of their models over others but speaking for myself, I'd never pay more than 5K for an Omega.

100% agree, that is why i feel the 2nd hand market for this could be "interesting" as it's not a Limited Edition Omega 007. The prices from them has gone though the roof, 4k for a Casion Royale Planet Ocean, over 3k for a 40th Anniversary Seamaster, way way more then they were 5 years back, but they are Limited Editions

I think some of that is the bond franchise increasing the popularity of anything connected to the history of the ‘brand’. Skyfall made a huge difference to prices. Spectre pushed them further. It’s a perfect storm right now. I know someone that purchased a DB5 just pre Skyfall. After the dust had settled his car had nearly doubled in value. You’re right-2nd hand market for this might be interesting. On the one hand it’s not a LE. On the other, it’s a very nice Seamaster that people might hold onto for quite a while, which will make the supply of used watches low/ pushing up the price. The rep has certainly flown off the shelves, and the used examples hold their value well (and also go fast).

You'd have made more money sticking it in an index tracker though, so the watch isn't such a good investment (not that I'm dissing watches).

Isn't that just the V3 SS bracelet? It's great, looks and feels good, no puling on wrist hairs and the overall craftmanship of it is not only superb but convinces me that VSF can replicate the Ti bracelet perfectly.

Yes its the V3 bracelet I recently acquired for my V2 just to get a feel of it and its sizing. My thoughts exactly when I looked and felt the quality of the steel mesh. They can definitely pull off a titanium copy with this same standard, no problem.

I just got my V3 bracelet for my V2 as well. Liking it a lot. Still hoping for a ti version eventually.

This is how the mesh bracelet should've been from the start instead of the mesh VSF provided with the V1 and V2. It definitely feels a lot closer to the gen with this mesh despite the inaccurate mesh pattern and the material being stainless steel of course. Looks really good.

The first mesh they did was ok. Totally inaccurate but the free sizing was good. It did have issues such as the difficulty of putting it on each time. Those who had the first mesh would know what I mean. Also the size isn't fixed, so the moment you remove it, you're gonna have to put it on and find the perfect spot again for that right fit. Also the somewhat odd clasp style isn't really secure as it doesn't have any hook to latch in place like other aftermarket mesh bracelets do. A knock on the bottom and if it accidentally opens up the clasp, the whole watch can just fall off. Just didn't feel secure to me. This is still the only mesh bracelet that I've seen with this kind of insecure, odd clasp. I ended up using an aftermarket mesh that had a hook and closure system which felt a lot more secure. Not much to say about the V3 mesh bracelet though. Very secure and sizing it is easy. The way the clasp works to size the bracelet is just nicely done. Very similar to how it's done on leather or rubber deployant clasps, except this one is on mesh. And of course its 90% accurate to the gen.

My V3 strap seems to come undone fairly easily, anyone else had issues?

Same. Around my 7" wrist. Just right. If I shift it to another hole either to the right or left, it would either be too loose or too tight.

Hey there, do you have any idea of what the spacing is in mm for each hole on the bracelet?

Best regards,

JV

Am I the only one thinking that on the wrist - like in the picture - this clasp looks bulky in a rather clumsy way, and out of proportion to the rest the watch and bracelet?
With the excess strap there is just too much metal going on if you ask me.
Mind you, I'm not dissing the watch itself, which I really like.
