Thanks atldml. What a pity! I'm a fan of its clean simple style, which would be relatively easy to replicate. Presumably it's too small and retro for the mass market.

Me too! I have a similar looking gen from the 50s. Very small. I'll try to post a pic soon.

Here it is - restored about 10 years ago, and worn sparingly since. For size reference, that is a new VSF 43.5mm GMT next to it.

Very nice! Thanks for sharing. I actually prefer it to the GMT! The 70 year anniversary 1948 is only 38mm and I suspect that if they produced one in 40 or 42mm and increased the run size, they'd have a watch with similar appeal to the current Zenith Defy Classic, which I understand is selling very well. No complications, simple styling, cheap to manufacture, nostalgic appeal, high margin. Ker ching. Simples!

The Seamaster 1948 measures 38mm, excluding crown. It's not that small, after all. Possibly some of the less important factories could be interested in making a rep
