Its basically at the point where they are basically gonna see if they can sell people on a higher resolution, even if nobody will actually be able to tell the difference anymore.

and to notice any difference at all at any distance is going to mean you will need to buy a huge screen, probably around 100+ inches, not to mention the huge space you will need on one wall, how big the room would need to be so it doesn't look ridiculously out of place (I would probably guess a 30 foot long room would do) and the cost of the TV Itself.

I'm an avid gamer (mostly PS4 at home), my setup is a PS4 Pro with a 2016 Samsung SUHD 4K Smart TV and I would not waste my money on an 8k TV (even say 5 or 6 years from now when they start to become affordable) as long as there will be good 4K TVs out there as it would essentially be wasted money, so I would only buy such a TV if there were no choice.

also I'm very nearly headed to a better job, hopefully in 2 weeks, on the final leg of a background check (already had a computerized test, Physical and Drug Test), waiting for them to get a hold of my High School diploma; then I can finally be proud and be able to say I have a good job, and not just a dead end barely afford to stay alive and pay bills job.

I am gonna wait for 5-6 years to buy this 8K.

The worst part of having this ultra sharp tv is you can really see how ugly all the pornstars are. Thick make up won’t be able to cover razor bumps anymore.

I watched an interesting youtube video the other day showing how the brain can't even process 4k as is.

Fluffy - Shoot me a PM with your PS4 username. I haven’t played for a long time but used to play COD and GTA 5

Even 4K TVs are beyond what most peoples Cable/Satellite companies broadcast, but at least 4K is usable in Video Gaming, 4K Blu-Rays, and Netflix.

8k is largely pointless for a number of reasons, the post above is important though.

Channel bandwidth tops out at about 10mbs, so you’re going to have to compress the shit out of your 8k picture to get it to work - meaning blocky darks and crushed colours. (Thats the same for Netflix / Prime as well) Compare that with a 1080p blu ray feed across HDMI - which will be 40-50mbs. The 8k picture looks amazing in store - but it will be an uncompressed, retouched demo film played off a 25gb stick in the usb slot in the back - so nothing like broadcast.

So broadcast eliminates most resolution gains. Then you have the actual media / source. It is true that most films now are shot in 8k, but they are usually downsampled well below 4k for release - especially for effects heavy films - it will take 4x as long, and cost a lot more to render effects in 8k than 4k. Example - Oblivion was shot in 4k, but released in 2k - not possible to render such effects in 4k at the time.

There will be an application for gaming. I would much prefer to see display development in VR / wearables though. PSVR / Occulus etc is little more than a tech demo at the moment but should be better. Any gamer will tell you they would prefer 100fps at 4k than 60fps at 8k as well.

A better upgrade to make to an existing home set up would be to keep your 4k set and invest in a good receiver and speakers - and I don’t mean one of those silly sound bars either!

Cheers.

U.K.
You won't see any difference unless you've got eyes like an eagle. You should also check if the broadcast infrastructure will support it I guess

Most TV Broadcasting companies don't even support 4k yet, but 4k has purposes for Netflix, 4K movies (with a 4k Blu-Ray Player or Xbox 1 X), and 4k Gaming.

I think 8k is a little too extra for where the market is at right now. I don't think we have the infrastructure. I believe that they will have better quality, even for 4k content, but that's not going to be extra the premium.

Also, 8k content is far from reaching consumers. I am surprised that for LiveTV we're still stuck in 1080 or even 720 which is why I get with Sling. It is true that netflix has a pretty good selection of 4k Content, but requires a pretty good internet connection. Imagine 8k? It will probably hug all your internet.

I just hope that I can have 4k reliable in the near future. I want my kids to be able to watch a 4k movie, while I am watching a 4k live soccer game. That would be great, and I hope that is the priority before moving to 8k.

Either way though when I was upgrading TVs I wasnt just upgrading in resolution, but also a better brand and a much newer TV (like 8-10 years newer) also a little in size (42 to 49) and I got one of the better 4k Smart TV models from 2016 for a pretty good discount from initial retail price.
