Hi
Having scanned the forum a lot over the last 6 months or so, about 8 weeks back I started to build a rep DJ (loosely a frankenjust as it has a gen dial only - which I chopped and filed the feet on). I'm not trying to replicate a design a DJ that exists, but have chosen a classic look with a gold DJ dial and hands, with everything else being SS, and I've made a black single piece calves leather strap with rep clasp. Not everyone's taste but I like that it's classical and different.
I'm using a 2824 clone (seagul) and have so far assembled the movement, dial, spacer and ring, including a custom (and by custom I mean home made) DWO that I designed based on a vector image with closed 6 and 9's.
As a noob, from what I had perhaps wrongly read and seen in videos, the 2824 runs a little smoother at a higher beat than the 2836, so I sacrificed the 2836's easier DWO application process due to the raised stock DW, for the 2824's smoother sweep. I'm maybe regretting this now and probably got the assumption on speeds wrong anyway.
So, with my assembly ready to case, I'm now on the hunt for some DJ style hands to fit 2824 (150/90/25) that have the longer posts on them.
Im really enjoying trying to fit all of these parts together that were not meant to fit together!
I'll probably be posting in the other threads soon for some advice on the hands, and I will post some pictures soon, but wanted to say hi now I'm cracking on with my build.
