Hi everyone on the forum! Happy to find you guys and knowledge myself about reps! I like to get familiar with all the movement, can you guys help me where can I start, where to look and read about them! Thanks ahead!
Id start with the brands you like - go to the Brand sub-sections and start reading up, then work in some reading in the Dealers section / browsing dealers websites - then you'll know what you like and what movements you have to choose from, and probably a good idea from general chatter about which is the best movement option... but if you want more detail on the movements, head to the Technical section and keep reading.
Some light reading to get you started here at RWI
Who has the best...? -
Do your research first before asking for a shortcut or you will get cut down. Go into the brand sub-sections and read up - it's all been discussed to death, and as new developments happen you'll see chatter about them there - so its all there for the taking if you just read And understand, when you ask "Who has the best...?", you're asking about makers and versions, not dealers (the dealers dont make the watches).
If you find a site on your own that's not a Trusted Dealer here (or at least on one of the other major forums), dont do it! Always go through a TD - they have worked hard to gain this status, and, for the most part, aim to keep it by doing the right thing. If you go through a TD, and do have a problem, the staff here may be able to help - if you go through some random place that pay to show up on google... not so much.
You'll find the Trusted Dealer Section here - http://forum.replica-watch.info/vb/forumdisplay.php?f=6
Generally speaking, all the dealers can get all the models, they generally dont keep watches on hand and have to check with the makers on availability before filling an order. Think of the watches shown on their site as inspiration / research, its impossible for them to show all available or to accurately remove models as they become unavailable. As a result, choosing from their stock and ordering through their checkout on their website can lead to pain / delay when they process your order only to come back to tell you that model is unavailable. Its best to email them and ask availability and cost of a specific model - ie: "Hi Angus, Can you please confirm availability and cost of a Noob CrPO 45mm with Orange Numerals..."
Specifically - "You may post a QC pic if you have a specific question about a possible flaw that you have found, and want input on how common or acceptable it is. However, the purpose of QC pics, and especially posting it on the open forum, is not: "Dealer X has sent me this QC pic, what do you think?""
Its not fair to the dealers to have 70,000 pairs of eyes picking apart macro shots of each and every product they sell, and I think some of the more experienced / knowledgeable members dont appreciate noobs getting / expecting a free ride to Rep Jedi level knowledge
Posting Pics -
Quite often people struggle with uploading photos... You need to upload your photos to a image hosting site (photobucket, imgur, etc, etc) and copy paste the link into your post. Im sure there is a thread on this but I cant seem to find it right now.
As you build up knowledge / experience, try to help out others by answering questions / offering advice - if everyone just asks questions and no one answers them, it all falls apart
As you spend more time here, you will benefit more and more from the help offered, through shared knowledge, advice, and possibly conflict resolution. You can give back to the forum financially to ensure that this great resource remains - this can be done via donations (for example after selling a peice on the site), participating in the raffles that are run from time to time, or becoming a VIP Member.
