Replacing repo movements with ETA movements

How do I know if a repo's movement has been modified or is not suitable for fitting the respective ETA movement for that particular watch. I would like to be able to place a ETA movement into any repo I buy once the initial movement died. But I have bought watches from actual brands that modified the movement in such a way that a stock ETA movement wouldnt fit and the repair main just suggested I go buy a new watch. Hope this makes sense.

Yes, it makes sense and something I've done a number of times. When a movement issue arrise, this is my preference vs fixing or servicing the clone movement. The movement you want to have in your watch is an A2824 or A2836.. these are a direct swap for ETA. The 7750 (unmodified, subdial in native configuration) is a direct swap, but the Chronograph seconds hand is not compatible so you would have to source a genuine one.
