Good question. I should have measured my 3235 when I had it apart. Online references state the two diameters as identical and in fact the barrel sizes are the same but the 3235 outer wall thickness was halved to house the longer mainspring.
I might try fitting a 3135 into a VSF 3235 126x Sub and see what I run into. The 126 dials are very different with the bottom edge rim and the stairstep top and no feet so those challenges would have to be overcome.

The 126 dials on a 3135 case sound like a big challenge. I guess dial dots are a solution but that just doesn't agree with me. I guess stem height will be another challenge.

I think much if not all of the dial underside rim would need to be ground off which is not difficult. Then feet can be glued on like I describe in the link below. The case has grooves that fit the stairstep dial shape perfectly so there's no room for the dial to go anywhere at all laterally in the case so I think this shouldn't be a difficult mod.
It would be more challenging to put a 3135 dial onto a 3235 movement because there are no feet holes on the movement. Also IDK if there is a stem height variance. It would be interesting to find out.

Neither the 3235 nor the 3135 has a physical spacer type movement holder. The 3135 has screws that go in the tab holes that are backed out to butt up against a groove. The dial and movement go in about 15° CCW past two groove cutouts, then are rotated to alignment. And the 3235 has gone back to using actual movement tabs, even on the gens. So if using a 3135 in a 3235 case, it should be able to be properly mounted by using movement tabs and screws.
