Not a problem.

And thanks!!

Were there any particular resources you used to learn at the start you could recommend?
Just seems to have a steep learning curve, things like how to handle the oils, which screwdrivers, eyepieces etc.

Thanks!

I just bought some spare movements and started practicing. Ended up doing work on my watches, friends, and now others.
Watched a lot of videos, read some books lol.

Practice, practice, practice. The hard part is the diagnosing which only comes with time.

Oooo that Elma cleaning machine has been sitting in my shopping cart on cousins for the longest time now. I'm very jealous.
I regards to the gen balance install. Was it very plug and play or was the install very fiddly. Been looking at getting a gen balance and installing it on my 126613L

It’s a game changer man!! Granted I’ve only done spare parts, but it works really well and fast.

I only had to broach out the screw holes very little. It was a bit too tight for my liking. Once that was done, it dropped right in no issue.

It looks miles nicer than my antique L&R cleaning machine, less wires sticking out of it too!

And good to know! I'll make a mental note of that, for when I get to snagging a gen balance.

L&R was still arguably better than what I used before!

I went for the Elma for ease of after sale service as well.

Hey All!

Man it's been awhile. Figured I'd post a few more pics of some recent work from the bench.
Similar to a recent post on this thread, this VS3235 got a gen balance assembly and barrel installed. All else is stock on the movement and watch.

Amp was around 270 on a full wind, and the Power Reserve was just at 70 hours.
Got to use some of the new tools too!!

Enjoy the pics!

Morning everyone!

Just some goodies from the past couple of weeks on the bench.
Some gen pushers installed on a CF Daytona, and a 4130 Service with installation of several Gen components.

Enjoy!

Great stuff! You replaced multiple balance assemblies to gen - Would you say this is more for cosmetic reasons or does it up the mvmts precision noticeably?

It‘d be fun knowing where the points of impact are in comparing gen to clone mvmts…

I've done them in the 3135, 3235, and 4130. If you get a brand new balance from Rolex, they are extremely accurate and are very easy to regulate. They are super consistent in all positions as compared to a clone balance that can vary a great deal...sometimes.

What i have had problems with are the "new" balances people by off ebay. Those, in my experience, are not new. But rather rejects that are sold at a premium. Usually they are out of poise and require a lot of tweaking to get to an acceptable spot.
