Just a thread to catalog my daily gripes with my reps and gens. Definitely not a watchmaker but, I spend time on my watches almost daily.

First VR3135 swap. The victim was my BP 16610. I had to source a new stem since the one that came with the movement snapped.

Regulated it today and it’s better.

This CRPO has either a stripped tube or crown. Did an old trick on it.

I have a bunch of miyota stems, first one is the original one on the watch, second one was used to measure, the third was the final used.

I cut the stem enough to give the appearance of a screwed down crown.

The end result. In that position, it winds. One out is the date change, two out is the time change.

It wasn’t running that well but a good amplitude always gives me hope. I have been receiving watches with horrible beat errors, easy fix. Does take a lot of patience.

That’s way better.

My gen SMP is out to annoy me constantly. It has not behaved like the chronometer it is. It constantly lies to my timegrapher. It was losing -7 a day and that’s not good for me. I’ve got it down to this today. Let’s see how long THAT lasts.

My Movado grail that I got a sweet deal on eBay. Running fast when received...

I’ll continue updating this to feel like I do something with my watches. LMFAO.

I’m not a watchmaker. I would suggest contacting one of our watchmakers. Probably a service is required.

Nice log bro, and great work! You are right about needing patience on the timegrapher - it's not unusual for me to take a hour or more to get those great settings.

Thanks brother. I find myself laughing at how I thought that after an initial regulation, it's all good. I learned with the Movado that it takes at least few tries to get it right!

Nice log! I find myself doing the same with my watches. I’m very particular with the regulation. My wife jokes and says I should spend as much time with her as I do with my timegrapher lol. I’m also addicted to “Watch Repair Channel” on YouTube. That guy is a beast. I’m sure you may have seen his stuff, if by some chance you haven’t... definitely recommend it!

Excellent post MCD, thanks for sharing your "not a watchmaker" projects. As an aspiring "not a watchmaker" with far less experience but a keen enthusiasm to learn, a thread like this is really interesting and helpful.

Subscribed. Thanks for this, good info and anxious to see more. I am an experienced mechanic (cars) but I've never been inside a watch. Maybe you'll inspire me to take apart one of my old watches and see if I can get it back together ;)

The fine tuning continues with the VR3135.
