Guys, After removing a good balance assembly to put it in another movement, I noticed the end of the hairspring was detached from the stud. I also saw a small rectangular shaped block of dried adhesive that fell off it. I've repositioned the hairspring into the stud slot but am not sure which adhesive to use. I know not to use super glue due to off gassing, so what is the recommended adhesive? Thank you!

I got a perfect size blob of epoxy on the stud after holding the hairspring steady with some masking tape and rodico. It's centered nicely in the stud. It will have to go back in the cleaner after it cures thoroughly, but I'm feeling pretty good about this so far.

Good job...I absolutely hate working on hair springs. I've replaced several on Seiko restorations and I have 'straightened' a few that got out of sorts, but it's one part of the hobby I do not like.

Glad you figured it out. I've got some slow cure stuff I use for all sorts of things. is nice a rubbery but doesn't crumble easy. It's Loctite Go2 Gel glue

Cool, thanks for the tip bro. Always glad to know about good adhesives, I glue a lot of stuff!

I've seen shellac used there Dave but apparently that method has been phased out in favor of glue. Only seeing shellac used now on the impulse pin and the pallet stones.

Mice job m8, it gives me the creeps to work on that... I would probably just throw in a new balance instead of fixing this micro fiddling
