Hi everyone,
this is going to sound like the most bizarre request but I have recently bought a new Noobmariner V8 114060. The watch is fantastic but I am itching to do some mods. I have experience of removing, dials, hands and movements and reassembling but not much more than this. I am looking to do a genuine Swiss movement swap and get the watch gaskets greased, pressure tested etc. I have previously bought replica Rolex submariners in the past but they where garbage compared to this v8. I have spotted a genuine breitling 2824 movement for a reasonable price however it will require a service and has the date wheel whilst my dial is a no date. The reason I want to do all this work is I want to keep this watch forever and want to know it has a solid and reliable movement in it. As my watch currently has the 2836 in it would it be a straight swap and if so could I use the 2836 stem and handset on the 2824 movement? Any help would be greatly appreciated on this build.

Many thabks
Neil

Hi Neil,

I believe the 2836 and the 2824 are different in regards to stem hight, so it will not be a direct swap. If the original movement is a A2836 I would try and find a Swiss 2836 for the swap instead of that 2824 you are concidering.

Thanks for the reply Kryckan13 I’m assuming this would mean that the movement, stem and hole in case for stem would not go in straight so may need to find a spacer. I mean the movement may be thicker in terms of depth or slimmer in depth than the 2836. Is that what you mean? Many thanks

How about replacing it with a Sellita SW220?

It should not be hard at all.

As others already mentioned the stem height difference is substantial between the two movement. 2824 has 1.8 mm and the 2836 2.25 mm
The 2824 has the stem closer to the dial and will not line up with your crown tube. Adding spacers can help remediate this but opens up another set of problems, like pinion heights... Other words your hands may hit certain parts of the dial if they fit at all. There is the H4 pinion mod kit for this but personally I'd think it is more reasonable to go with a 2836 based movement.

Thanks again riderocket. After all the replies and advice I think il keep looking for a better 2836 movement and see if ones comes up like maybe one off an old tissot or something. I think that’s going to be the safest option for someone like myself. I don’t feel comfortable playing with the stem height and spacers etc.

Yes, as riderocket said the 2824 is slimmer and will not swap in without modding. Also the suggested Sellita movement is great. I have some Sellitas myself and they are rock solid.
